Warning sad post (not the butterfly, it's just fine)

We are a very trusting bunch with our customers at CCN but it is always a real downer when the actions of a few selfish people ruin it for everyone else. These selfish people are not our typical customer-in fact I dont even want to call them customers, we like our customers.
So from today, baskets will no longer be able to be taken to your car. They haven't been replenished in a while because of theft. This last weekends antics were appalling and very disheartening.
They will be replenished but no basket can leave the nursery. So when you come in please bring your bags and boxes with you. We are always happy to give boxes and recycled bags if we have them but there is no guarantee.

On a good note, this is your last week to see our display garden that we posted a few weeks back. This beautiful little Chequered Swallowtail was visiting a week or so ago and was devouring the nectar in the Dampieras. The garden has also grown tremendously over the last few weeks so well worth another visit.

The rain is wonderful for our gardens as we had become quite dry in this region after a fairly wet early winter.
But that means the nursery is quite flooded at the moment so if you are dropping by today, dont forget to wear your gumboots (unlike some of us, guilty!)
Tomorrow will be much drier and the water wil have subsided. Hope to see you over the weekend.

This Kennedia retrorsa is in stock now. It is listed as vulnerable in NSW, grows naturally throughout the Bylong Valley and Mt Dangar and grows in a wide variety of habitats. In Canberra it can suffer some frost damage from heavy frosts but usually recovers. This one is growing in a Canberra Region Garden.

This fabulous display garden which is currently located inside the nursery was designed and built by the Parks and Gardens students and teachers at CIT Bruce campus. See second pic for the triumphant team. It will be in the nuraery for the next 3-4 weeks, so make sure you come and see it before its gone.
It is there to inspire you with your garden ideas, so have a chat to our staff if you have any questions about the plants within the garden or the design ideas.
Thanks CIT canberra students. It is beautiful

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Bill was unable to attend the nursery last Saturday as previously advertised. We apologise profusely to those that came out in the less than ideal weather on Saturday to buy from Bill.
Bill will now come this Saturday, 12th September, for those that still may be able to come. Just a reminder that this will be your last opportunity to buy his plants until March 2026.
If you would like to contact him prior then please email [email protected]

Hardenbergias were running out the gate today in the nursery. They are a local plant and with a mild winter they are giving spectacular displays around the region.
We have climbers, groundcovers and a tiny wee one that is very cute called Bonnie Bilby.

If you see them around Canberra, check out where they are growing.

We call them understorey plants that happily withstand medium frosts. They will burn if exposed to heavy frosts. Don't believe anyone who tells you that theirs are frost hardy. It all depends on the microclimate. If you see them exposed and thriving, there will be a reason, eg. rocky batters which provide a heat source and a steeper slope for frost drainage. They may also be growing out of concrete paths or rock walls, or not get the early morning sun. Otherwise overhead cover with filtered sun and reduced frost are the norm.

So pretty in the garden and definitely worth finding a good spot for them.

We have been a little quiet on Insta and Facebook lately but dont worry, we have been busy preparing for a fabulous spring.

We have restocked our tree ferns, 1ft, 2ft, 3ft and 4 ft. Come and grab them soon so they can be planted before the fronds fully open.

Just a reminder that we are changing to Summer Trading hours from tomorrow morning and saying goodbye to winter a bit early.

The nursery will open at 8.30am and close at 4.30pm 7 days a week .

See ya Winter!
