John was honoured to be invited to speak at the launch of Ferrari Luce in Melbourne this week - on the back of meeting Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna at the Formula 1 this year.

There was a lively Q&A alongside Stephen Jolson Jolson Architecture Interiors and Ryan Lewis Ferrari Australasia that weaved the parallel design worlds of architecture and automotive design together.

Both pursuits, while highly technical are ultimately experiential in nature. The result of obsession with the resolution of detail

When questioned “If Ferrari had rung you instead of Jony Ive, where would you have started?” John responded that he’d have requested a road map of Italy, the latest Michelin guide and a series of foundational Ferrari’s parked along the route, ultimately arriving back in Maranello to start work with the engineers.

Thanks to Aidan Anderson and The Local Project team for hosting such a great event.

Positioned on the prominent corner of Victoria Parade and Wellington Street, at the meeting point of Collingwood and East Melbourne, Collingwood Apartments is a mixed-use precinct that will deliver more than 470 new homes alongside activated retail spaces.

Spanning two buildings, the development offers a diverse range of housing options, from townhouses and studios to one, two and three-bedroom apartments creating opportunities for a broad and vibrant community to call the precinct home.

Drawing inspiration from the surrounding heritage warehouses, factories and silos, the architecture responds to the area’s industrial character through robust materials, rhythmic façades and a strong sense of identity. At ground level, a generous public plaza and pedestrian-focused streetscape are designed to strengthen connections between Collingwood and East Melbourne, enhancing walkability, safety and community interaction.

The result is a thoughtfully integrated neighbourhood destination that builds on the established character of Wellington Street while contributing high-quality housing and public space to Melbourne’s evolving urban fabric.

As Winter comes to a close, we’re reflecting on what was a wonderful evening of chats and catch-ups at the Parlour Winter Salon in our Sydney studio.

Life is full of moments of uncertainty and inevitable forks in the road where we’re faced with choices about where to go next. Samantha Donnelly and Justine Money justine money both shared their experiences and perspectives of dealing with unpredictability in the workplace with such honesty, reminding us that the path ahead doesn’t always need to be clear - sometimes it’s about having the courage to take the next step and be pleasantly surprised for what it offers.

A big thank you to Samantha and Justine for sharing so openly. To everyone who joined us for the evening, thank you and also to Parlour for continuing to provide a platform for these stories to be told. It was a beautiful night of conversation, connection and reflection.

A recent award for Monarch Residences gave us the chance to reflect on the project in some depth. Wardle Partner, Mathew van Kooy and Senior Interior Designer Jeff Arnold guided the project through its creation and delivery.  In this piece, they discuss Monarch with Jess Cowie, our newest Senior Interior Designer, who gives her take on the look and feel of the interior spaces and the overall design.

Mathew van Kooy takes a look at some of our more recent precinct making work. Success is not measured by the buildings alone but by the life between them.

Burnt Earth Beach House has been recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects with the 2026 RIBA International Awards for Excellence.

The project has been a personal labour of love combining family and practice. It is also the culmination of many strains of research and experimentation. It is an honour to be recognised alongside a strong group of projects from around the world.
