🐣πŸ₯ BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT KACOKI ACRES! πŸ‘πŸ“

Our little feathered babies are growing up soooo fast! πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

It feels like only yesterday they were tiny little fluff balls, and now they're ready to spread their wings and move into their brand-new homes!

That's right… the chicken coops are FINISHED! πŸŽ‰πŸ”

There's been plenty of hard work, a few headaches, and a whole lot of love poured into getting these coops ready!

And we can't wait to show you what we've been working on! 😍

πŸ‘€ STAY TUNED FOR THE BIG REVEAL!

Trust me, the girls are moving up in the world! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ“

🌾🚜 HAY THERE! CHANGE OF PLANS! πŸŒ§οΈπŸ˜‚

Well, Mother Nature certainly knows how to keep us farmers on our toes!

A little bit of rain this morning, with more forecast for tomorrow, meant our plans for the day went straight out the window!

With the weather breathing down our necks, we got stuck into raking and flipping the hay, hoping to give it every chance to dry out.

Then we looked at the forecast again and decided there was no time like the present!

Time to fast-forward the hay baling! 🚜🌾

And just like that… BOOM! πŸ’₯ Hay baled! βœ…

Nothing quite like a bit of incoming rain to put a rocket under you! πŸ˜‚

Farming certainly teaches you to be flexible. You can plan all you like, but Mother Nature always gets the final say! Thank goodness for the amazing community we have in our street our neighbour Darryl jumped into action. Jason is still at work 😏

Another big day at Kacoki Acres, another job ticked off the list, and another little chapter in our farming adventure. ❀️

🌾 To our fellow farmers, have you ever had to race the rain to get your hay baled?

πŸ‘πŸ’¦ TILLY THE "SHEEP" DOG! πŸΆπŸ˜‚

I'm starting to think someone forgot to tell Tilly she's actually a sheep! 🀣❀️

Today, while topping up her water, Miss Tilly got VERY excited about the hose and decided she'd have a drink straight from it… just like a dog would! πŸ’¦πŸ•

Honestly, this little girl has more dog-like tendencies than some actual dogs! πŸ˜‚

And before anyone says it… YES, I know she's big enough to be out with the weanlings. YES, I know she's getting SOOOOO big. And YES, I know she can't stay my little bottle baby forever.

But bear with me for just a minute… she's only FOUR months old! πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

Surely I'm allowed to hang on to my baby girl just a little bit longer?

She might be growing into a big, beautiful sheep, but in my eyes she's still that tiny little lamb who needed us. πŸ₯°

Besides, who's going to tell her she's a sheep and not a dog? Because I'm certainly not volunteering! πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸΆ

Does anyone else have a farm animal that seems to have forgotten what species it belongs to? πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡

🍦🀣 EVER HAD ONE OF THOSE DAYS? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

You know the ones… where you wake up, get out of bed, and by the end of the day realise you really should have just rolled over, pulled the blankets back up and called it quits! πŸ˜‚

Well, today at work was ONE OF THOSE DAYS!

Nothing went according to plan. Everything that could go south went south, and just when I thought things couldn't possibly get any worse… life said, "Hold my b**r!" 🀣

Now, I don't drink often, and certainly not at work, so my version of knocking back a few shots involves standing under the soft-serve machine and necking ice cream straight from the nozzle! πŸ¦πŸ˜‚

I even got my mate ChatGPT involved to create the graphics because, let me tell you, I WAS THIS 🀏 CLOSE TO MAKING IT A REALITY! 🀣🀣

Some days you just have to laugh, because the alternative is losing your marbles completely!

Here's hoping tomorrow is a little kinder… and the soft-serve machine is fully stocked! 🍦❀️

Come on, who's had a day that made them want to crawl straight back into bed? πŸ˜‚

πŸ”₯ QUIT YOUR WHINGING AND TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT HOW YOU LIVE! πŸ”₯

I'm getting tired of hearing, "Our grandparents could buy a house on one income, and these days we can barely survive on two!"

Well, here's a truth some people aren't going to like.

Our grandparents weren't paying hundreds of dollars a month for streaming services, subscriptions, takeaway coffees, food deliveries and the latest gadgets.

They weren't upgrading their phones every year, financing cars they couldn't afford or spending money they didn't have trying to impress people they didn't even like!

They lived within their means. FULL STOP.

β˜• Coffee was made at home.

🍳 Meals were cooked in the kitchen, not delivered to the front door.

πŸ‘• Clothes were worn until they wore out, then repaired.

πŸš— Cars were driven until they couldn't be driven anymore.

πŸ“Ί There was ONE television, ONE telephone and nobody needed a screen in every room.

πŸ’° If they couldn't afford something, they SAVED for it. They didn't just whack it on Afterpay and worry about it later!

And here's the kicker...

They knew the difference between WANTING something and NEEDING something.

These days, we've somehow convinced ourselves that every convenience is a necessity and every luxury is something we're entitled to.

We complain about the cost of living while paying for lifestyles our grandparents wouldn't have dreamed of.

We spend $30 getting dinner delivered, $100 on a night out, thousands upgrading perfectly good phones and cars, then wonder where our money went!

And don't even get me started on the pressure to give children absolutely everything!

Children don't need the latest iPhone, designer clothes or every new gadget on the market. They need time, guidance, boundaries and parents who teach them the value of a dollar!

Now, before someone gets their knickers in a knot, YES, housing is expensive. YES, groceries have gone up. YES, there are people genuinely doing it tough through no fault of their own.

But let's stop pretending that every financial struggle is caused by the government or the economy.

Sometimes the problem isn't what you're earning. It's what you're spending!

We've become a society obsessed with convenience, instant gratification and keeping up appearances.

We want everything NOW, and we're prepared to go into debt to get it.

Our grandparents weren't necessarily wealthier than us.

They were often better at going without.

They made sacrifices. They worked hard. They repaired things, grew things, cooked things and made do with what they had.

And somewhere along the way, we've lost sight of that.

Politicians and big businesses certainly haven't helped, but let's not pretend we haven't played a part. They've made an absolute fortune selling us convenience, and we've lined up to buy it!

You cannot spend like you're wealthy, save like you're broke and expect to get ahead!

Want change? Start at home.

Cook your meals. Cancel what you don't use. Stop buying things to impress others. Teach your kids that NO is a complete sentence. Learn to live with less and appreciate what you've already got.

A simple life isn't a poor life. And having everything doesn't mean you've got it made.

Sometimes the richest people are the ones who need the least.

πŸ™ God is good. Be grateful for what you have, work for what you want, and stop confusing luxuries with necessities.

πŸ’₯ THE TRUTH MIGHT STING, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY LESS TRUE!

Inspired by a post I came across. I've added my own thoughts because I reckon there's a lesson here worth sharing!

Photo of my Pa the most influential man in my life I miss him everyday. And hes a handsome devil 😊

Sometimes the loudest place we can find ourselves is inside our own minds. ❀️

You can be surrounded by breathtaking views, endless skies, and all the beauty the world has to offer, yet still feel completely lost in your own thoughts.

Reflecting on where life has taken you, wondering where it's leading, replaying conversations, thinking about the words left unspoken, the things you wish you could change, and the moments you're still trying to make sense of.

But perhaps being lost in thought isn't always such a bad thing.

Sometimes those quiet moments are exactly what our hearts and minds need. A chance to reflect, to process, to find peace with the things we cannot change, and to gently let go of what we were never meant to carry forever.

Life has a way of teaching us lessons we don't always understand at the time. Some experiences leave us with beautiful memories, others with unanswered questions, and some change us in ways we never expected.

And that's okay.

We don't have to have everything figured out. We don't need an explanation for every hurt, an answer to every question, or a clear direction for every chapter ahead.

Sometimes we simply need to be still. To allow ourselves to feel, to reflect, and to remember what truly matters.

Because not every moment of uncertainty means we're lost. Sometimes it simply means we're growing, healing, and learning to see life a little differently.

So take a moment. Breathe in the beauty around you, look towards the horizon, and trust that, in time, the things weighing on your mind will become a little clearer.

Sometimes peace doesn't come from finding all the answers. It comes from learning that we don't need them all to keep moving forward. ❀️

πŸ‘πŸŒΏ A BIG DAY AT KACOKI ACRES! πŸŒΏπŸ‘

Tagging, marking, drenching and weaning… what a day! πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

It was all hands on deck here at Kacoki Acres, with a whopping 142 ewes and lambs to work through!

And what a team we had! ❀️

Jason, Corey, Lulu, Jazmin and myself all rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into it.

Kait was our record keeper making sure we had tag numbers and identifications all done correctly. Records are so important on the farm😬.

Bobbie took care of the kids and made sure we were all hydrated and feed most important job 😁

There's certainly no shortage of jobs to be done on a farm, and when you've got that many sheep to get through, every extra pair of hands makes a difference!

Days like these are hard work. They're long, tiring, sometimes a little chaotic, and there's always a laugh or two thrown in for good measure. πŸ˜†

But you know what? This is exactly what it's all about for us. FAMILY! ❀️

Working together, teaching the younger generation, sharing the workload and creating memories along the way.

I'm so proud of what we're achieving here at Kacoki Acres. We're still learning, still growing and still finding our feet, but we're doing it together, and that's what makes it so special. πŸ₯°

142 ewes and lambs later… job done! βœ…πŸ‘

πŸ” CHICKEN COOP PROGRESS πŸ”

We’re making some real progress on the new chicken coops here at Kacoki Acres! πŸ™Œ

The fox-proofing is coming along, the mesh skirts are going in, and it’s finally starting to look like a proper home for our growing flock. πŸ₯°πŸ₯

And the timing couldn’t be better because our young chickens are growing like weeds and will be ready to move into their new digs very soon!

There’s still a little bit of work to do before we can officially hand over the keys πŸ”‘πŸ˜‚, but we’re getting closer every day.

We can’t wait to see them scratching around and exploring their new space. All the hard work will definitely be worth it!

πŸŒΏπŸ” Stay tuned for the finished result!
