The rangehood over this island is hiding inside the timber box.

The Schweigen UM4220-12S is a 1200 mm stainless steel cassette that installs into a bulkhead or the ceiling, so your joinery can carry the look. It uses Perimeter Aspiration to draw air in around its edges, and the Isodrive motor is mounted away from the kitchen.

A wallmount rangehood is on show every day, so it has to suit the kitchen as well as clear it.

The Schweigen WM2190S has a pyramid-shaped stainless steel canopy with Italian styling and selector switches on the front. Steam is the easy part. Fats, oils and grease are what a rangehood actually has to catch.

A wet winter under the house doesn't dry out just because spring turned up.

The SW 2100 RAF pulls 2,100 m³/h of damp air out of the subfloor and draws fresh air in behind it. It runs off a 40 W solar panel — no wiring, no running cost — and it only works when the sun is out, which is exactly when the replacement air is at its driest. A timer-driven fan can't tell the difference and will happily pull wet air in on a rainy afternoon.

A musty smell in a spare room doesn't come from nowhere, and opening a window for an afternoon won't fix it.

Airdry systems draw fresh air into the subfloor and push the stale, moist air out, running on solar power so there's no ongoing cost to keep it working. Before it reaches the carpet, before a rental inspection flags it, or before it becomes a bigger repair — sorting the airflow sorts the smell.
