Over time, styles and tastes change. It can become difficult to integrate furniture in one room,let alone between different spaces. Sometimes we can carry through a dimension, a contour, or a colour. In this case we had tall skirting boards, high ceilings, and a picture rail which all had a bearing on the design. These are some examples of finding a balance between the sizes and proportions of the existing trims and heights, and the required functionality of each piece. The first image showing a unit prior to painting, in its raw form of marine ply and hardwood.

A kitchen renovation doesn’t have to mean an entirely new kitchen. Although sometimes new or updated appliances simply won’t fit where the original items did. Often, we can modify an existing layout to allow for these changes, to the oven, cook top, refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, or all of the above. In this example I modified the sink cabinet to accept a butler’s sink, increased the size of the recess for the dishwasher, made way for a new oven and cook top, and replaced the older laminate bench tops with locally sourced hardwood. Over time, and exposure to the extremes of weather, windows and doors often develop serious issues ranging from splitting, to rot. Thankfully there are times where we’re able to repair components, rather than replace an entire set. This is an example of a sill repair. The entrance to your home is often overlooked from a functional perspective. Here is an example of an entrance suite. Bench seating complete with storage for umbrellas, shoes and boots of different types, as well as hanging space for coats and a hat shelf. In the next image a modest bench, with space to store several pairs of shoes beneath. Both have been designed and created to blend in, while performing their task.
