A little reminder about dogs in public spaces 🐕

This happened outside the shop today, and thankfully I had a quick reaction.

As I came down the front steps, I had no idea there was a dog sitting directly at the bottom until I was already right on top of it. The dog lunged towards me and, thankfully, it was tethered on a short lead.

Had that lead not been there, this could have been a very different story.

I’m sharing this as a reminder, not to have a go at anyone, but because it’s easy to forget just how quickly something can happen.

Please remember that not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and not everyone can see, hear, or react quickly enough to avoid one. Children, elderly people and people with disabilities can be particularly vulnerable.

If you’re bringing your dog into town, please make sure they are secure, under effective control and positioned somewhere they can’t surprise or lunge at people walking past.

And please don’t assume that because “my dog is friendly”, everyone else knows that or feels comfortable around them.

A little consideration goes a long way. ❤️

Thankfully, today was a near miss.
