We’re looking for another person to join our team. The role has plenty of variety, including the opportunity to spend some time working with us here at Mallee Turf.

GARDENER POSITION AVAILABLE

Sunraysia’s Mowing & Maintenance is looking for another gardener to join our team.

We’re a growing local business looking after a wide range of commercial properties, schools and other sites across the Sunraysia area, along with work at our turf farm - Mallee Turf.

The role is varied and can include mowing, gardening, grounds maintenance, irrigation, lawn care and general property maintenance.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Is reliable and takes pride in their work
- Has good attention to detail
- Enjoys working outdoors
- Works well as part of a team
- Is willing to learn and have a go at different types of work
- Can work independently when required

Previous gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance experience would be an advantage, but it’s not essential. We’re more interested in finding the right person with a good attitude and willingness to learn.

For the right person, we’d also be open to discussing an apprenticeship and supporting them to build a long-term career with us.

A current driver’s licence would be ideal, however we understand this may not be possible for younger applicants who aren’t old enough to drive yet.

You’ll also need to have, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check and Police Check where applicable.

There’s plenty of opportunity to learn new skills, take on more responsibility and grow with the business.

Who knew grass could create careers?

Jamie and Karen had a great day representing Mallee Turf at SuniTAFE’s AgVenture Day, talking to students about the opportunities available within the turf industry.

Many people don’t realise the turf industry is about much more than mowing lawns. There are career pathways in turf production, irrigation, machinery operation, landscaping, sports turf management, agronomy and business ownership.

We’re passionate about showing young people that there are plenty of rewarding careers available right here in our region, and we’d love to continue working alongside organisations like SuniTAFE to help showcase those opportunities.

Thanks to SuniTAFE for having us and to all the students who stopped by our stand and asked questions throughout the day. We hope we inspired a few future turf managers along the way! 🌱

We get asked all the time what we’re actually doing out on the farm.

So I figured when I get a chance — and actually remember — I’ll start posting a few more behind-the-scenes videos of what we’re up to out here at the farm. Turf farming is still pretty new to the area, so a bit of education and insight into what goes on behind the scenes can’t hurt.

Just a warning though, my media resume isn’t exactly elite, so you’ll have to put up with the rawness of my content.

So if you drive past and see me looking like an absolute derro talking to my phone or filming myself, now you know why.
