Buying a shed & converting it into a house. Think carefully...

When you purchase a prefab shed, that’s exactly what you’re getting — a shed. It may seem like a cheaper option upfront… but is it really? Just a couple of items that you would need to consider.

To make it liveable, you’ll need to build an internal frame inside the existing shed structure — meaning you’re effectively paying for two frames. That adds cost straight away.

Then there are wider window reveals due to 2 frames, additional work to address thermal conductivity in the metal frame to meet energy efficiency requirements, and upgrading a slab that was never designed for residential use. All of this and other items adds more time and more expense.

In reality, a shed conversion often doesn’t save money.

A better approach?
Designing a small, well-planned dwelling using cost-effective materials from the start. You’ll achieve a comfortable, compliant home — without the hidden extras.

Spend your budget wisely, not twice.
