A good saw can still give you a bad cut with the wrong blade on it.

One of the easiest mistakes to make is choosing a blade by tooth count alone. The material, cut direction and finish you want all matter, and the best blade for ripping solid timber isn’t necessarily the one you want for clean cuts in melamine or laminated panels.

A solid general purpose blade earns its place in most workshops, but once you’re chasing faster ripping, cleaner sheet-good cuts or a better finish, a more specific blade can make the job noticeably easier.
