Good bait presentation. The right hook. Then comes the fun part… 🎣 💨 🔥.

Western Port Snapper are almost all systems go now 💪🏻. From hook selection to getting the bait sitting right, small details are worth paying attention to.

Blowing hard 💨 on Western Port this morning with the reward being a couple nice Snapper with this one the better fish! I sounded up some fish along a nice edge and set the anchor. Within 5 minutes I had my first run.
It’s been great sounding and catching fish in areas all over Western Port this season. All fish today took fresh Squid 🦑 ring baits.

Western Port Calamari are going absolutely bananas 🍌 at the moment!
Today didn’t quite start off as intended.. with mate Dan losing a cracking Snapper that did a crazy screaming buckle 💨 early on in the morning. A bit of consolation catching two nice Gummy Sharks to 12kg and our double bag of big Squid! I’d take that over a Red any day.. 😜

Screamer on Western Port with the sunrise 🌅. Just the one Snapper but a good fighter. Buckled the rod and off it went 💨. Fresh Yakka chunk getting the job done over Squid.

Sunrise, Screaming drag and Western Port Snapper. Three things that are hard to beat.

The last few days have been solid on the Western Port Snapper! There are plenty of fish about now, sounding them up on the Simrad and dropping on them. Josh and I had buckles 💨 today, ending up with a nice bag of Reds. All taken on fresh squid 🦑 rings as bait.

Western Port Snapper playing ball for Gawaine and I this morning 🔥.

Starting off early right up in the shallows produced this rippa, steam training the squid ring bait 💨. Once the sun was up and the daylight grew, we decided to go for a sound around. We found a pair of arches on the simrad and within 5 minutes of baits deployed had another one on the deck.

Western Port Calamari MAYHEM! 🦑 🔥

Squid fishing doesn’t get much better than this! Quality Calamari and ink 🫟 flying around everywhere. It was red hot until the Dolphins 🐬 came through.

Western Ports firing on all cylinders! Calamari & Whiting demolition yesterday 🦑 🐟.
Really good to switch away from Snapper for a change. The Calas went nuts 🥜 with Gawaine and I pulling in one after the other until our bag was secured and some solid pumpers in there too 💨. The Whiting went just as good.. and hopefully a sign our spring summer season will be a decent one!

Another cracking Western Port Snapper 🔥.

Chasing these early season fish has been unreal, with a great start and plenty hitting the deck already. The reds are showing themselves more and more now and if it’s any sign of what’s to come.. I’m looking forward to it 👀.
