A place to age well in the heart of Alphington.

The tower crane is now on site at Arcare Alphington, with Maben Group making steady progress on construction.

The seven-storey aged care home sits within the suburb’s historic Paper Mill precinct. It draws on the comfort and attention to detail of a hotel, with shared spaces that challenge familiar expectations of aged care.

A great evening last week at the 2026 RICS Australia Awards, joining peers from across Australia’s built environment as guests of ClearVue Technologies.

What stood out was the breadth of work being recognised across the industry. The projects VIA works on are increasingly shaped by decisions that sit well beyond architecture alone, from development strategy and operational requirements to documentation, delivery and commercial performance. Events like this are a good reminder of how much stronger the built environment becomes when those disciplines work collaboratively.

Palm Lake Resort Pelican Waters continues its run of recognition.

Following its recent Master Builders and Property Council success, Palm Lake Resort collected five project accolades at the PropertyGuru PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, including Best Housing Development in Australia and Best Senior Living Development. Palm Lake Resort was also named Best Lifestyle Housing Developer, bringing the night’s tally to six 🏆

Designed by VIA with interiors by Studio Collective | Interior Design Brisbane , the continued recognition speaks to an ambitious vision for over-50s living and a project that rethinks what later life can be.

A great night at the 2026 Data Centres Australia Excellence Awards last week, with Luke Bonham and Michelle Fox joining industry peers from across Australia’s data centre sector.

NEXTDC’s M2 Melbourne Stage 6 was Highly Commended within the Data Centre of the Year award category, recognising a project we’re proud to have been part of alongside our friends at Construction Management.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists!

Our Managing Director Frank Bambino joined the panel at Studio Tate’s recent Beyond the Summit: What’s Next for Seniors Living? event.

Led by Alice Blackwood, the discussion explored the drivers reshaping the sector, and what’s consequently changing across design, development and operations.

Building on themes from the National Retirement Living Summit, we looked at connected communities, longevity as an opportunity and the role of experience-led design in shaping better later-life environments.

What happens when accessibility is tested from the resident’s point of view?
 
Our recent Galvin and Dementia Australia Enabling EDIE Experience sessions gave our team a practical way to explore how reduced mobility, restricted vision, dementia and increased physical effort can change the way a person experiences a space.
 
Good design in aged care needs to go beyond compliance, considering dignity, usability, and the small design details that can make a big impact.

Last month, a group of us tried our luck at the Travellers Aid Charity Trivia Night.

Did we win? No. Did we place? Also no. We did, however, have a great night putting our somewhat questionable trivia skills to use in support of Travellers Aid, who help people with diverse needs travel across Victoria’s public transport network and actively participate in their communities.
