YDM Design Studio Bespoke Homes for Effortless Living

A little look at the bathrooms in our Carnegie II project.

Certain elements like the tapware, vanity and benchtop connect all the spaces to create a cohesive home, whist still allowing for individuality in each room. The master ensuite has a feature wall in a lovely textured blue subway tile which creates an elegant yet bold space. In comparison, the kid's main bathroom and powder room have a fun terrazzo tile to create more of a joyful space.

Each space can have it's own personality to suit the people enjoying the spaces.

A little obsessed with how our Carnegie II kitchen and pantry have turned out.

After months and months of working on a design, it's so rewarding to see the completed space! Keep your eyes out for more of this project in the next few weeks.

Our completed Carnegie II project is looking absolutely amazing!

This family home, in collaboration with Elements Of Home, just feels so good walking through each and every space. From large and functional working-zones and plenty of storage to joyful and fun bathrooms for the children, this home has everything we always aim for when starting on a new project.

Keep an eye out for a few more sneak peeks of the spaces before our professional shoot in a couple of weeks.

It was so exciting to pop into our Reserve Ave Stage 2 project last week and see progress on this amazing Ensuite and WIR.

With the small changes we've made to the layout and the addition of a skylight, it's already feeling so much more spacious and functional.

The moody greens in the joinery and benchtop really create such a wow-factor walking into the space - I can't wait to see it all complete in a few weeks!

Follow along to see more of this amazing project.

We've been really busy recently with many projects starting on site and we are so excited to get these photographed in the coming months to show you all!

In the meantime, here is a little sneak peek of our Alphington project. This renovation saw us completely transform the previously dated and underutilised spaces to deliver a clean, warm and practical bathroom and laundry for our client's family.

These spaces were beautifully completed by the team at Progressive Bathrooms + Renovations

Keep an eye out for more images of this project in the next months!

Progress on site at our Shepparson project, being built by Joshua Sceberras

This home was another collaboration with Elements Of Home, and includes a large extension out and up. With the front of the home remaining as existing, we have designed the remaining spaces to be contemporary but with a classic twist. We are using blue as a pop of colour throughout the home, with the kid's bathroom upstairs getting a fun terrazzo.

One of the first and most important things to consider when designing a kitchen or laundry simple functionality. The fact is that a functional kitchen will streamline the cooking and cleaning process and give you more time to do what you really want to be doing, whether that’s spending more time with your family, or having some downtime to read a book.

That's why we are very intentional not just about the joinery layout, but also about the type of storage that we include. One of the things we love adding for maximum functionality is mechanisms - and our favourite brand to use is . Well-placed pull-out bins, corner mechanisms and pull-out oils/spices cupboards are a must in most kitchens that I design. Similarly, you'll usually see pull-out hampers in most laundries (and sometimes bathrooms or WIRs as well!).

Something that you might not know is that myself and a small group of designers have been working with Andrew Mitchell from for the past year to refine our business values, offerings and processes to be able to better serve our clients. To finish off our year of coaching, we embarked on a Design Retreat that was filled with so much joy, inspiration and excitement. My highlights were our chats with Sarah-Jane Pyke from and Alexandra Kidd from as well as our visit to with a guided tour by the designer

This trip has reminded me of why I do what I do, and just how much I love my job! Our goal has always been to create spaces for joy and connection, and design homes that feel good and function effortlessly. We have come back with renewed energy and can't wait to put all this inspiration into our projects!

One thing I often see homeowners get wrong when it comes to bathroom layouts is a lack of clearance. It can be exciting to imagine what a space could be like, and get carried away trying to fit as much as possible - but a crowded bathroom is an ineffective bathroom.⁣
⁣
It's important to ensure that you have enough clearance around each item to move comfortably, open doors and cupboards/drawers without hitting anything, and be able to clean with ease.⁣
