Ang Ku Kueh Making Class

Our very first Ang Ku making class! ❤️

We learnt how to make the dough and filling, then came the fun part — learning how to wrap, mould and shape our very own Ang Ku Kueh.

What made this class extra special was hearing the different reasons everyone came along.

One came with a friend who gifted her the class for her birthday.

Another came because Ang Ku brought back memories of her grandmother, who used to make them for her to eat. Since her grandmother passed away, she hadn’t eaten them for a long time. She wanted to learn how to make them herself and also bring back special memories of her grandmother.

We also had two little kuih enthusiasts who have joined a few of our other kuih classes before.

And others simply came along to chill and have an enjoyable time with a friend because they just love to eat kuih. 😊

For me, one of my favourite parts of teaching is meeting new people, sharing something I love, and watching their confidence grow as they make it themselves.

Let me introduce you to Taste N See and share a little about why we do what we do. 🤍

Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or you’re new around here, I’m so glad you’re here. 💓

My name is Ruth, and I am the founder of Taste N See.

At Taste N See, our mission is to create handmade Asian desserts (Kuih) that taste good and do good.

Through Taste N See, I bring together my love for baking and teaching with a desire to support and encourage vulnerable young people. What began with a love for heritage kuihs has grown into something with a deeper purpose.

Our class bookings, kuih purchases, and partnerships help contribute to programs and workshops that support and create opportunities for them to learn, grow, and develop practical skills that can support them in everyday life.

For me, Taste N See is about more than sharing our heritage desserts. It is about creating welcoming experiences where these young people feel seen, valued, and encouraged.

I hope to bring a taste of purpose, culture, and compassion to each young person we have the opportunity to meet.

At the heart of this journey, I believe that every young person is created with purpose and has a hope and future ahead of them, regardless of their current circumstances. 🤍

Black Sesame & Pecan Snow Skin Mooncake

I attempted to make snow skin mooncakes for the first time, using my favourite black sesame filling and adding some roasted pecans for a little crunch.

For the snow skin, I added natural ube powder from .blue.tea for a beautiful tint of purple.

They turned out delicious! I may be biased, but I absolutely love anything and everything black sesame. 😍

Ondeh Ondeh and Kuih Dadar workshop 🌿🌺

Over the weekend, we learnt how to make ondeh-ondeh and kuih dadar. We made the dough from scratch and enjoyed learning how to prepare these delicious traditional treats. After making and eating them together, we also took some extras home to share with our families.
