CONSIDERED INTERVENTION
When Stockholm-based interior architecture and design studio AO/JN Interiors reimagined this 19th-century apartment in Östermalm, they set out to “reveal its inherent qualities through carefully considered interventions”, intending “every alteration to strengthen the apartment’s original identity”.
The dining room of this sprawling 300-square-metre residence exemplifies that approach. Suspended centrally beneath an ornate plaster ceiling rose, PETRA III introduces the irregular contours of raw stone to the room’s classical composition. The cool translucence of clear quartz plays against the warmth of the timber cabinetry, bespoke oak table and parquet flooring, all coming together in a space that feels rooted in its history yet entirely of the present.
