A curve like this is built from many small pieces.

Each piece is numbered and laid out to a template, so the angles are right before anything is glued. Then it's glued, shaped and polished into one round, finished curve.

This benchtop and splashback read as soft and quiet from across the room, but up close there's a fine pattern of drifts and veins through the stone. Against fluted cabinetry, it's a small space with a lot of detail.

Polishing a curve is slower than polishing a flat surface, and less forgiving.

The pad has to follow the shape the whole way around, pass after pass under water, until the finish is even from one edge to the other. You can see it in the reflection: when the curve is right, the light runs across it without a break.
