House on a Hill - Ballarat (WIP)

It’s a 3-Bedroom Home but we’ve kept the ‘Master Bedroom’ detached from the second bathroom so it could be used as a second living space (Art, Music, Exercise, Reading, Play etc.) - However, it can be reconfigured as an Ensuite in the future.

Views are to the South.

Lloyd’s Redevelopment - Geelong (Under Construction).

In a perfect world, this building would be used a lot like Melbourne’s Curtin House (Swanston St) and we designed in such a way that if partitioning was required, it would follow a logical pattern.

The idea of the ‘eroded’ base detail was strategic, as it would ensure its longevity, contributing to the street character.

Though not our intention, comparisons to the nearby wool-stores is appropriate - we like those buildings.

Under Construction.

Shed - Taggerty, Yarra Ranges (Vic.)

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that one of the highlights of a road trip, is the shed sightings on the open road. Occasionally, when the family is not in tow, I’ll even pull over to get a better look.

Aesthetically, it’s their honesty, leanness and directness that makes them so attractive. But what we love most is that they are also a place of endless possibility… we need more of this.

Id all we ever designed were beautiful sheds, we would probably be a bunch of happy campers.

Dwelling to follow.

“Garden of Eden” - Between Garden and Wilderness

NGV Architectural Commission (Submission)

We designed a swing set consisting of 7x Poles and 1x Circular Crossbar. The idea was simple enough, and we knew that it would be all-age. Kids would have fun (and presumably some adults would play along), whilst others might use it for respite and reflection. In life, and in film, swing sets are often used to depict decision (or indecision) - maybe moving back and forth helps us think..
I’m not exactly sure.

A garden was placed in the centre, as an obvious focal point, and of course naturally, the ‘wilderness’ lay beyond the circumference of the structure; a very fine and fragile line. In that sense, it’s reminiscent of our Earth, Atmosphere and Space. An incredibly fine line between life and death….
(At least for now).

Unbuilt. Unremarkable. But we had some fun.

Rural Workers Accomodation for Timboon District Hospital.

Our take on the quaint Victorian-era cottage typology that dot the landscape of regional/rural Victoria.

The typology is easily recognisable by its double-front, prominent verandah-roof and weatherboard cladding.

Each accomodation-unit has a a footprint of 60m2 (40m2 Internal and 20m2 External).

Lloyd’s Rooftop (Bar & Breakfast) - Geelong

Over the past decade we’ve seen Lt Malop St Geelong transform itself into a thriving hospitality destination through the efforts of a handful of passionate and visionary operators. Each of these operators took a punt on what was pretty dismal street just a decade ago and transformed it ‘brick-by-brick’.

Works are well and truly underway on the base build but there’s still a fair way to go before the Rooftop Bar opens.

We think it’ll come up alright and we hope to see you there. 🍕🍻

Sturdy. Economic. Delightful… That kind of sums up what we were trying to do here.

We also introduced a couple of courtyards to aide in ventilation and privacy.
