The humble hallway: the room nobody plans, everybody walks through, and spring sunshine absolutely loves. 🌤️

Fresh white walls and ceilings, crisp trim, and those glorious jarrah floors doing the rest. This is from a heritage home where the brief was simple — honour the bones, multiply the light.

Hallways are the best value paint job in the house: smallest walls, biggest first impression. You see your hallway more times a day than any other room — it just never gets a turn.

Maybe this spring it should. Free quotes — send a photo, even if it's "just the hallway." Especially if it's just the hallway.

Incoming project, and every parent just nodded at this photo. 🖍️

Texta murals. Sticky-tack constellations. Mystery ceiling dents. A gallery of masterpieces applied directly to the paintwork. Every family has one room like this — and I genuinely love them, because the transformation is enormous.

For the record, the fix isn't just painting over it: marker and crayon bleed straight through normal paint like a ghost with unfinished business. The proper way is a stain-blocking primer first, then the colour. That's the difference between gone and gone-for-three-weeks.

This one's about to grow up along with its owner. Before and after coming soon. 🎨

Got a kids' room that's been "creatively customised"? Free quotes — no judgement, I've seen far worse.

One of the small joys of this job: cracking open a freshly mixed tin and giving it the first stir. 🌀

Those swirls are the tinters folding into the base — thirty seconds later it's one perfect colour, but right now it looks like a flat white made by someone with steady hands and strong opinions.

So, game time: NAME this colour. Wrong answers only. I'll start: "Macchiato Regret."

Winner gets absolutely nothing except my respect, which is priceless. 👇

The most ignored surface in your house is also the biggest one: the ceiling. 👆

This one's mid-repair — damage cut back, patched, and sanded until the edges disappear. Next: a full coat so the fix is genuinely invisible, not just "invisible until the afternoon sun comes through the window at the wrong angle."

Ceilings bounce most of your room's light. A tired grey ceiling quietly makes the whole room feel tired — and most people never work out why the freshly painted walls still don't look right.

Rule of thumb: if the walls are getting painted, at least LOOK up. I'll always tell you honestly whether the ceiling needs doing or can wait.

Quote-stage puzzle from an upcoming exterior: two storeys of gable to paint, and… 🤔

• Can't put tower scaffold up — the porch is in the way.
• Can't erect normal scaffolding — there's a tree on one side and a shed on the other.
• The top still needs painting, because gravity doesn't paint gables.

Solution: a boom lift. Part of the job you never see is logistics — working out how to reach every square metre safely BEFORE the quote lands in your inbox, so there are no surprise costs later.

(Also, between us: any excuse to drive a boom lift.) 🏗️

Two-storey home that other painters have put in the too-hard basket? That's my favourite kind of quote. Free ones, always.

Just landed for an upcoming job: 'Cheetin'' in Night — big green jungle leaves with little gold cheetahs hiding in them. 🐆

Destination: an ensuite AND a powder room. Yes, wallpaper works in bathrooms — you might remember the koi bathroom from last month. The recipe hasn't changed: the right paste, tight seams, sealed edges, and paper that can handle a steamy Tuesday morning.

Small rooms are exactly where you should go big. You're in there four minutes a day — make them four fabulous minutes.

The before is gloriously beige. The after is going to be a jungle. Watch this space. 🌿

Fresh off the brushes: a kitchen wrapped in sage green. 🌿

White cabinetry stays crisp, the sage does the warmth, and those copper pendants suddenly look like they were bought for the paint (they weren't — the paint was chosen for them; that's the trick).

And yes — the smoke alarm and every switch plate came off the wall before the roller came out. You know the rules by now.

Green kitchens are having a moment and I am HERE for it. If your kitchen is solid but the look is stuck in another decade, paint gets you the new-kitchen feeling without the new-kitchen invoice.

Free quotes — send me a photo of your kitchen and the colour you're too scared to commit to.

Older homes ALWAYS have surprises. Crumbly plaster behind solid-looking paint, mystery patches, that one wall that's never been square. The job isn't to panic about them — it's to fix them and carry on.

She also called moving her heavy furniture "painful" — so we worked around it and made it painless. That's the whole point of hiring someone who's done this for 15+ years.

How to spot a painter who cuts corners, part two: look behind the alarm sensor. 👀

In Lou's words: "Always move the alarm — it's only 1 screw!"

Alarm sensors, light switches, power points, smoke alarm surrounds — the lazy version paints around them and leaves a ghost outline for the next decade. The proper version: off the wall, painted behind, refitted like nothing happened. One screw. Thirty seconds. No excuse.

Same rule as the door hinges: anyone can get paint on a wall. The difference you're paying for lives in the details nobody photographs.

Free quotes — corners not cut, alarms not painted around.

Lou's own caption on this photo: "OCD at its finest." 😌

Every white patch on that wall is a dent, a screw hole, a scuff or a hairline crack that got found, filled and sanded BEFORE any paint came out of the tin. It's not glamorous. It never makes the after photo. But it's the difference between walls that look good on handover day and walls that still look good in five years.

Paint doesn't hide problems — it highlights them. Gloss and low sun are merciless. So we fix the wall first, then paint the wall.

If a quote you've received seems too cheap, this step is usually what's missing. Free quotes from me include the boring bit — it's my favourite bit.
