Apple Streusel Pie 🍏🥧
Savor the comforting flavors of homemade apple streusel pie, a delightful treat that will warm your heart and tempt your taste buds! Perfect for any gathering, this pie brings together a buttery crust and a luscious apple filling.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or make your own!)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Let’s get that kitchen heated up and ready for baking!
2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and salt. Toss everything gently to coat the apples evenly. Set aside to let the flavors meld together.
3. In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. This will create the scrumptious streusel topping.
4. Roll out the pre-made pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, or fit your homemade crust if you chose to make it. Press the crust gently against the bottom and sides of the dish.
5. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
6. Sprinkle the streusel topping generously over the apples, ensuring an even layer covers the filling.
7. Place the pie in the oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the streusel is golden brown.
8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
