A beautiful project in Bowral.

We were engaged to specify and design a new bathroom and laundry, working within a reconfigured layout developed by the clients’ architect.

It was a pleasure to bring the spaces together, carefully considering the finishes, fixtures and fittings to create a cohesive design for the entire home while balancing functionality with timeless style.

We’re absolutely thrilled with the result and love seeing the vision come to life.

Looking toward the rear of the same project, this modern studio was created as flexible accommodation for visiting family.

Distinctly contemporary in its design, it adds another layer to the home while remaining connected to the broader vision of the project.

A thoughtful addition, beautifully resolved - and such a wonderful project to be part of.

Looking back towards the house from the garden, the connection between old and new becomes beautifully clear.

The original home and the contemporary addition sit in quiet harmony - each with its own character, yet connected by a shared design language.

It reflects the way our clients wanted to live in the home: respecting its history, preserving what mattered, and creating something new that feels natural, considered and entirely at home beside it.

A gentle balance of honouring the past while making space for the future.

The fabulous ballroom.

Working with heritage homes means respecting their history - designing with them, never against them.

This was the second time AKD had been invited by these clients to work on their beautiful home. This time, collaborating with on a thoughtful reinvention that honours the home’s historic origins while introducing a bold, contemporary design at the rear of the dwelling.

A beautiful balance of old and new.

Preserving the beautiful original features of a home and honouring its original design intent is such a rewarding part of what we do.

From researching the history and understanding the details, to seeing those elements carefully brought back to life, it is a process we feel genuinely privileged to be part of.

There is a real responsibility in working with a home that has already stood the test of time. The decisions we make now can help carry it confidently into its next 50 years - while still respecting everything that made it special in the first place.

It is an honour, and one we take very seriously.

We had an absolute ball specifying all the beautiful details for our Fairlight project, and one of our favourite features has to be the inclusion of the Centor Australia screen.

These are truly a game changer - seamlessly integrated into our bespoke timber doors without compromising the clean, considered design.

And what a delight summer is going to be for our clients! From enjoying those late sleep-ins to keeping the bedrooms blissfully bug-free, these screens are going to be well and truly put to work.

Such a clever detail, and one we’re so happy we included.

This library space was designed as a home study for clients who are also avid book collectors.

Welcomed through stunning steel doors, the room was created to feel both functional and deeply considered - a quiet place to work, read and retreat.

Every detail was designed to sit in harmony with the beautiful pieces it holds, allowing the collection itself to become part of the character and warmth of the space.
