Colour wash vs colour stain - whats the difference? 🎨

Grout colour (and width) are elements that most people forget about, but they can completely change the way a tile and space presents itself.

These sample mosaics at Academy Tiles are a great example.

Thank you Doug for having me stop in!

This concrete table-top took 13 people to move!! Here's the story of how this giant piece of concrete landed in 's showroom, and why we chose it as a centrepiece for the showroom's design. 🎨

It’s been 3 years since we designed Schiavello Furniture ‘s Sydney Showroom!

I popped in to see how it’s held up and share some of the thinking behind this design. 😊

When I'm specifying carpet for a commercial space, I'm thinking about a lot more than colour and finish - performance, access and longevity matter just as much!

Unlike the broadloom you'd use at home, commercial carpet comes in modular squares or planks. If one tile gets stained or damaged, we can replace just that piece rather than the whole floor. Tiles can also be lifted to get to whatever's underneath, such as electrical services. 💡

I also love that carpet tile gives us more flexibility with colour, texture and laying pattern to define different zones within a space, and it helps so much with acoustics too! 😊

It's a small spec decision, but it makes a real difference to how a commercial space holds up over time.

Thanks Shaw Contract Australia for having me stop in!

Lighting selection can be the difference between a space that only looks good in photos, and one that feels the way the designer intended. These lights from the 'Laser Blade' family are great examples of that! 💡

Thank you Studio 100 JBW and Bruno for having me stop by.

Construction at our Willoughby project is underway, and our new entryway design is a real highlight for me.

Here's how we’ve redesigned the entryway to feel warmer, more private, and more considered. 😊👇🏼

1️⃣ We're replacing the original balustrade, which is metal and feels cold, with a solid handrail and balustrade. The solid finish allows for added privacy (so the bedrooms above cannot be seen) and the handrail on top will be timber, bringing warmth into the space.

2️⃣ We're applying a beautiful Venetian plaster the whole way around. It’ a very high wall, and we want a finish that can carry that scale.

3️⃣ We're introducing a wall lamp as a key feature to again, bring warmth into the entry way and add a focal point to wall.

We can't wait to show you this space once it's finished - stay tuned!

When most people think about interior design, lighting is often forgotten about, but it plays a huge role in shaping mood and the way we experience a space. 😌

The 'Trick Light' family is a great example of that! 💡

Thank you and Bruno for having me stop by.

Unboxing new pieces is always fun, and this lighting fixture is no exception! 💡

This wasn't actually our first choice for the home it was purchased for. We'd originally gone with something more traditional (kind of hat-shaped).

The piece we really loved is made of felt, and since it's going into a kitchen, we got a little worried about it soaking up grease and moisture over time. So we kept looking, and found this one instead, named “Mr Magoo”.

Our client was drawn to the irregular shape and how soft it looks, and once it's lit up, it's going to bring so much warmth into the space! 😊
