In a quaint little town, where the chimneys stood tall,
Lived a chimney sweep, the best of them all.
With a brush in his hand and soot on his nose,
He’d dance on the rooftops in old ragged clothes.

He’d leap and he’d twirl with a mischievous grin,
Leaving footprints of ash as he scampered within.
“Oh, chim chim cher-ee, I’m as happy as can be,
Cleaning chimneys all day, with a heart full of glee!”

The townsfolk would giggle as he clambered about,
“Here comes the sweep!” they’d cheerfully shout.
For he’d whistle a tune and make quite a scene,
Turning soot-covered rooftops into stages pristine.

One day while he swept, with his feet in the air,
He startled a pigeon who’d nestled in there.
The bird gave a squawk, and the sweep gave a yelp,
As he tumbled down chimneys, in need of some help.

But our hero, he landed with hardly a scratch,
In a puff of black soot, an impressive dispatch.
He stood up and bowed, with a twinkle in eye,
“Just another day’s work,” he said with a sigh.

So here’s to the sweep, with his chimney-top prance,
A master of soot, and of comical dance.
In the hearts of the town, he forever will keep,
The legend of that whimsical, soot-covered sweep.
