Choice of materials is an important consideration when building a deck close to the ground.
In constructing this recent deck, we chose Lowdeck, a treated H4 timber with Koppers Micro® Timber Treatment Technology. It is protected from fungal decay, termites and insect attack, suitable for in ground use and supported by a treatment warranty of 50 years.
With the framework secure, the choice of WoodEvo Advanced range topped off the deck beautifully. This composite decking board is engineered with premium foamed PVC core and capping, delivering superior durability with an R13 slip rating, the highest grade on the oil-wet ramp test scale. Meaning it provides very high slip resistance and remains stable even on an incline of 35 degrees.
The sandstone colour complements the brickwork tastefully and the divider board negates the need for butt joins.

Ongoing work from repeating clients means we must be doing something right.

Different months, different projects, here’s a few pics of a Lake Mac home that had quite a face lift with a new back deck, stairs and cladding.

A combination of merbau and spotted gum for construction of the deck and stairs with composite cladding WoodEvo boards to rejuvenate the house.

Decaying deck demolition and rebuild
After removing the handrails, tiles and fibre cement from these two decks, new Scyon Secura flooring was installed with James Hardie face tile sealing off the platform. Topping off with a flyover roof expanding over the two decks and expanding across the entire width of the front facade of the house creating a fresh new space that is also a little more protected from the elements.

What a change in lifestyle this project made to a disconnected backyard.
Constructed using H3 treated pine, Merbau and stainless-steel fixings, this deck included screening below the deck on the poolside and a flyover colorbond skillion roof, with polycarb to let in some light and roof blanket to keep out some heat. Finished off with Merbau handrails and stainless-steel wire balustrading, it just needs the pool fencing specialists to complete the new look.
