Leave breathing room....

A packed shelf is hard to keep tidy because there's nowhere for things to go. Once every spot is full, putting things away turns into a game of Tetris, so they end up on the bench or the floor instead.

Aim for about 80% full. That little bit of space makes it easy to get things out and put things back, plus it lets you see what you have. That 20% free space saves you a lot of energy - both mental and physical.

Try it on one shelf this week and see how it feels.๐ŸŒฟ

This National Carers Week, I want to send a direct, heartfelt shout-out to all the unpaid carers out there, whether youโ€™re connected with Carers NSW or navigating this journey entirely on your own.

If you are a carer, you already know the unique weight of it. You know the profound, bone-deep exhaustion. You know the quiet moments of self-doubt where you question if you're doing enough, or doing it right. And most of all, you know the immense frustration of dealing with systems, authorities, and healthcare structures that demand standardised boxes for non-standard, complex humans.

Being the person who tirelessly cares, coordinates, fights, and advocates - often while holding the emotional and mental load entirely alone - is heavy work. So often, you are the only one who truly understands the full picture.

Through my work, I walk alongside many clients who are right in the thick of this space. I know that I am just a small cog in a much bigger system, but my hope is always to give you a little physical and mental space to breathe, reset, and feel seen.

To every carer reading this: I see you. Your labour, your fierce advocacy, and your devotion matter.

Not a diagnosis. Not a judgement. Just some things I have noticed over the years that are worth paying attention to.

Our homes can quietly add to the weight we carry. The good news is that small changes can lighten it too. Every slide has one gentle thing to try. You don't need to do them all, just start with the one that feels easiest.

If things feel heavy beyond the house, please talk to your GP or someone you trust. And if your home is part of it, we'd love to help.

Which one feels familiar to you?

Spring is the window - warm enough to get to work, not yet hot enough to regret it. If the garage has been on the list for a while, this is the nudge.

Newcastle friends โ€” this is especially timely.

The free Chemical CleanOut is happening this Saturday, and it's the perfect companion to a garage sort-out.

The connection between our physical space and how we feel is real - and it works both ways.

A calmer corner, a cleared surface, a system that finally makes sense - these things are small, but they matter. Not because a tidy home fixes everything, but because your environment can quietly support you, rather than quietly drain you.

If you need help with your space, please reach out.
