“Dad cleaned it for me…”
“My husband usually does it…”
“I’ve got a mate who pokes a metal rod down it…” 🤔
I wonder which one did this?
Star picket on a chain, found lodged in a flue.
The rust had spread, destroying the flue, and the heater.
People often ask me if I find anything interesting in chimneys.

Every now and then I see a heater that takes my breath away 🤩. It is love at first sight 💕
This beauty is a Colebrookdale “Darby”, from Shropshire England. It has a hidden cooktop, and is a hydronic unit ( it heats water, that then heats the house through underfloor, or wall panels). The proud owners had purchased a home with this installed. I was able to run them through its operation, and features. They were pleasantly surprised, when I let them know that this was a free service. Many of you would have heard me say “I never charge for advice”.

I come across possums in flues quite often. I am glad to say that most manage to get out alive ( usually through the firebox door, with a little help).
Sadly this one was in the flue when the fire was lit, and did not make it 🥺.
