What’s it actually like to buy a Wood Beam pendant? We asked the people who already have one.💡

From getting the size right to travelling across the world, here’s what our customers had to say.
📐 Size it. Jamin worked with Neil on a drawing showing how the light would spread, helping him choose a size that would suit his space.
📦 Ship it. Steve’s Wood Beam travelled from Australia to the US in a custom wooden crate, carefully packed for the journey.
🔧 Install it. Declan found the installation straightforward, with his electrician wiring the light into place.

And once it’s up? For Ornella, it’s the first thing people notice when they walk into her new kitchen.
Every Wood Beam is made to order. The standard drop is 1500mm, with options up to 5m, and custom sizes are available on request. An installation guide is included, and every light must be installed by a licensed electrician.

Planning a space of your own? Send Neil your ceiling height and table length to start a conversation about the right size.

In the video, the top row features bronze and the bottom row antique brass. From left to right, you'll see plain, oak and mango.

Not sure which combination will suit your space? Send Neil a photo of your wall, and get in touch to discuss your options.

As with all our wall lights, installation should be carried out by a licensed electrician.

It's always good to hear from a customer again.🤎

Simon and Graham first bought our Wood Beam LED Pendant Light No.1 in 2021, when they were living in Seattle. When they returned to Australia to build their home in Gisborne, they got in touch about a custom Wormy Chestnut beam light.

They'd seen a prototype I'd shared on Instagram and liked the character of the timber. We made a finished version for their new home, along with flat copper shade pendants for the kitchen island.

It's rewarding to see a piece find its place in a home, and even more so when customers come back for another.

Thanks to Simon and Graham for returning to Little Anvil, and to Jackson Dwellings for sharing the finished project.

Lighting that earns its place.✨
The Oak Disc Pendant keeps things simple: American oak, bronze hardware and a warm bulb.💡
The 250mm solid oak disc leaves the natural grain on show, while the industrial Bronze E27 Edison screw lampholder adds a little contrast.

Choose between black or brown braided cable to suit the space.
Made to order in our Melbourne workshop, with 120V and 240V options available.
Designed for real-world use.

✨It’s the details you don’t notice that matter.

A good light isn’t just about what you see.
It’s also about what goes into making it work properly:quality components, considered details and the care taken at every stage.

Neil makes each Little Anvil piece in our Melbourne workshop, paying attention to the things that might never be noticed once the light is installed.
That’s the point.

When something is made with care, you shouldn’t have to think about every detail. You should simply be able to enjoy the finished piece.

Quality components. Carefully considered. Built to last.

💡Meet the maker behind Little Anvil.

Neil has been making lights for 20 years, but his eye for well-made objects started much earlier.

Originally from Glasgow, he studied furniture construction and design before finding his way into lighting. Since then, he’s been drawn to objects with a bit of history, clever engineering and a good reason for every detail.

A vintage fire hose nozzle can become a table lamp. An old medical part can find a second life. And sometimes, the best ideas come from simply looking at an object differently.

That curiosity still shapes what happens at Little Anvil today.

Neil designs, makes, solves problems and checks the details himself , from the first conversation about a project right through to carefully packing a finished piece for its new home.✨

Designer. Maker. Detail obsessed.

And that’s a little of what makes each piece distinctly Little Anvil.

So, what makes Little Anvil, Little Anvil?✨

For us, it comes down to care.
Care in how a piece is designed . Not just how it looks, but how it will work in a real space.
Care in the making, with Neil responsible for the first idea all the way through to the finished piece.
Care in the details, from the materials and hardware to the small changes that can make a fitting work better for a particular project.
And care in helping you find the right solution when your space calls for something a little different.

💡Unique design. Quality components. Care in every detail.

That’s what Little Anvil is about.

💡Running Little Anvil as a sole trader and doing everything myself is hard, and that's why it's been quiet around here.

What hasn't changed is my obsession with creating unique designs from quality materials. That's here to stay.

The difference now is I've got a bit of help. We've been working quietly behind the scenes, and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you (and maybe more than twice a year).😉

Follow along. There's more to come.
