The original timber French doors on this Macedon Ranges home had been letting in water and cold air for years; the frames had deteriorated enough that draughts ran constantly and warm air escaped through the gaps year-round.

We replaced them with custom fixed timber panels in sustainably sourced Australian hardwood, pre-primed for durability and fitted with high-performance double glazing, measured and made to suit the exact opening. They eliminate air and water pe*******on, and the finish sits seamlessly alongside the existing windows in the background (which we’ll return to replace soon!).

Most window openings in an older home sit at non-standard sizes, which is why a stock replacement often needs the opening altered to fit. This is the Melbourne workshop behind Macedon Ranges Timber Windows & Doors, raw timber being dimensioned to match the exact opening it's going into.

All our timber windows are made to order, then glazed and finished in the workshop, with double glazing as standard.

The front entry takes more weather and more daily use than any other opening in a house, which is exactly why it's usually the first frame to start failing, and the most visible one while it does.

This Bulla home's replacement is a Parkwood Doors Australia in a woodgrain finish on an aluminium frame, so it keeps that look without a repainting cycle to worry about.

Young Owen gave it a test run, picking up his regular Friday night burger and chips. We reckon Janet, Dave and the team make the best burgers going round!

The servery window was designed to be installed into the existing shopfront with minimal disruption to the frame.

Evolve Windows enclosed this undercover outdoor area in Riddells Creek with double glazed windows, changing how the household uses the space day to day. What used to be a fair weather spot now holds up through the torrential rain Macedon Ranges has had recently, same roofline, same footprint, just enclosed instead of open to the elements.

A good example of adding genuine living space to a property in the Macedon Ranges without extending the house itself.

This was an open undercover area before, roofline and brick piers, no enclosure at all. New windows and sliding doors have gone in turning it into a fully enclosed, all-weather room.

Genuine additional floor space added to the house, usable regardless of what the weather's doing outside.
