The hardest kitchens to design aren't the small ones — they're the ones in a room that already has a strong personality. In this timber-frame home we grounded the space with matte-black cabinetry and a honed waterfall island, so the natural beams stay the star instead of fighting it. Modern and warm, in the same room.
