My customer wanted to upgrade the framing on a piece of family history since the previous frame wasn’t in very good condition, and was not framed with conservation materials. This was a poster advertising an auction, dated October 13, 1919, which listed all of the assets for sale. His great-great-grandfather had become ill, and could no longer run his farm, so everything was auctioned off.
A honey-tone wood moulding from Roma Moulding was paired with conservation grade mats from Larson-Juhl. The colour of the mat used for the narrow reveal didn’t match the corner sample, so I adjusted the colour by hand-painting the mat with a watered-down acrylic paint. Museum glass from Tru Vue® was chosen for its 99% UV protection and amazing clarity.
This piece of family history has been preserved for future generations.
