Lawn and Garden Team Leader - Part Time (Burlington Area)

Note: This is a part-time seasonal job. We are offering 3 days a week Parttime 25+ hour weeks. If desired by the successful candidate, they can work full-time, with extra days available as an assistant. Saturdays are occasionally necessary if the schedule does not get finished, but are never scheduled for work. Health and Dental co-pay is available on request. This job can be structured as Full-year seasonal (April-November) or Student Appropriate (May-August)

Job description:
1. ACCOMPLISH QUALITY GROUNDS MAINTENANCE: Safely & efficiently perform lawn and garden maintenance using power mower, grass and hedge trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment. Supervise and co-ordinate above activities performed by assistants ensuring work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
2. MAINTAIN LANDSCAPE ENVIRONMENTS: Cut lawns, edge, fertilize, w**d and cultivate gardens, deadhead, prune shrubs and trees, maintain, and assess and trouble-shoot irrigation systems as required.
3. ENHANCE GROUNDS: Spread soil, manure and mulch, aerate, overseed and plant as required.
4. ASSURE QUALITY CLIENT RELATIONS: Assess potential problems and improvements and meet client requests and concerns in a timely, friendly and courteous manner. Leave each property clean and maintained before proceeding to next location.
5. ADHERE TO THE TRAINING MANUAL: Carry out all aspects of work in adherence to the Employee training manual.
6. MAINTAIN ASSIGNED VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT: Perform daily/weekly maintenance and servicing.
7. ADHERE TO GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE: Service all assigned properties on a weekly basis in a safe and efficient manner, maximizing profitability.
8. MANDATORY PARTICIPATION IN SNOW REMOVAL SERVICE: Be available to provide safe, efficient and damage-free snow removal service in a timely manner.
9. KEEP RECORDS: Keep accurate electronic records and submit them daily.
10. PARTICIPATE IN A SAFETY CULTURE: In all aspects of work participate within a culture that emphasizes safe work habits
11. PARTICIPATE IN A LEARNING CULTURE: In all aspects of work participate within a culture that emphasizes continued growth and learning. Participate in active training and self-improvement.
12. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Complete as required and/or assigned.

Requirements:
• Valid Driver’s License
• Safe & efficient operation of small engine equipment
• Safe & professional operation of a truck and landscape trailer
• Knowledge of all related hand & power equipment
• Knowledge in lawn and gardening maintenance practices including plant identification
• General knowledge of irrigation systems and related part requirements. A few years of industry experience
• Have ability to encourage & promote teamwork
• Have good oral communication, job task planning & organizing, writing & reading text
• Complete knowledge of company safety standards, procedures and policies and adhere to such, including company dress code to reflect a neat and professional image
• Embrace a culture of continuous learning

Student Garden and Lawn Assistant (Burlington Area)

Job description:
We are offering seasonal full-time placements (4 days averaging + 35hours/week) Successful candidates will be assigned the same 4 day a week schedule (Mon-Dri) for the duration of the contract. If the schedule does not get done at the end of Friday, it is expected everyone be available to take a turn work Saturdays to finish. This happens, on average, 3 times per season for the whole company. This position is a seasonal labourer position that assists team supervisors in all aspects of the job, from gardening to mowing lawns. Experience is not necessary but is an asset. This position can lead to advancement.

Requirements:
• Reliable team player
• Able to work with and without direct supervision
• Able to work outside in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wet)
• Physically fit
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Valid “G” or "G2" Driver’s License
