I’m not a chef. I’m a home cook, just like you. But I’ve never been afraid to ask, “What if we tried it differently?”

That curiosity, and plenty of experimenting in my own kitchen, led me to create the UpRoaster. It’s also what I bring to my DIY Peking Duck cooking classes here in Calgary: practical techniques you can use in your own home oven.

This time, I put vertical roasting to the turkey test.

Two approximately 19 lb turkeys, cooked at the same time in the same home oven. One on a flat roasting pan with a rack, the other on the UpRoaster.

After about 2½ hours, both breast probes read 165°F. But underneath? Very different results.

Handing over the grand prize! 🏆

Out of more than 200 entries, Michael nailed it with a guess of 3.5 lbs (just 0.05 lbs off the actual 3.55 lb verified weight) and won the live tie-breaker draw!

We have our winners from the Calgary Chinatown Street Festival!

Over 200 visitors stopped by our booth to guess the exact weight of the UpRoaster pan with its roasting attachment. The official weight came in at 3 lbs 8.8 oz (3.55 lbs).

We had an incredible tie with two finalists guessing 3.5 lbs, so we did a live draw to decide the grand prize!

I'm so proud of your kids Saron! They learned patience, focus, methology and problem solving skills on one of the most complex culinary recipes to make in the world. They did it with flying colors; even before they are teenagers! Watching your family bonding and learning together was amazing...no tech screen time involved, just enjoying quality time and being in the moment.
