This is the breezeway between the house and the garage. Five years ago it was just a partially blocked wind tunnel. I framed, added two new doors and windows, insulated and with Jody’s help boarded the walls and ceilings. I added the vestibule as a catch all for winter gear and to hide and eliminate an existing partially submerged concrete pad. In the past two years I had tackled some of the taping and it had become a transient garbage pit for other projects. Then came Eric who cracked the whip, had me clear everything out and he finished taping. The subtle green wall color came from last years house renovation and I made the decision on the pastel blue in about two minutes at HD. The flooring came from the three bedrooms and hallway and I had it stashed away for five years. It’s basically a 1/4” thick rubber lay down material that required some advance concrete floor prep by Eric.
I’m putting in some poofy leather furniture and another television in the back area to add some living space.
Huge shout out to Eric for his skills and expertise and seeing this project through to completion.

Last year when I pulled my 30” front door and reframed for a 36”, I discovered that the schmucks who insulated had split the fibreglass batts in half to effectively reduce the R value. Eric is here from Jasper and we refinished that wall properly.

This is like finding a unicorn. It’s the second one I’ve bought off FB marketplace in the last two months. These are no longer made as they don’t have the trigger safety device in the nose. It’s in the double trigger.

Manufactured two new laminate tops and installed them in a Richmound home. The worst part of the job was the plumbing. The tailstock and ABS was coated internally with a foul smelling slime that was on the verge of becoming a life form. I didn’t have a new tailstock on hand so I was forced to take it home and clean it.

I spotted an ad on FB Marketplace this afternoon for 28 sheets of plywood that were clearly 5/8 and 7/8 particle board. I inquire & it turns out they’re not full sheets but close enough for countertops and buildup.
The guy asks how much I want and gives me an accurate count and says some of the pieces have glue on them which in the picture appear to be dried blobs of window foam or Pl400. Easy to sand out.
Tell him I’ll take it all, try to negotiate a lower price and say ill probably have to do in two trips. He takes off $50 and says he will deliver it tonight all the way up from the Hutterite colony SW of Maple Creek. Winner winner chicken dinner. Current price for a 4x8 of 5/8” K3 is $49 and HD quit carrying it. You do the math. Perfect timing as I’m building tops in my shop.

Six days of hard work just came to an end. Homeowner thrust this in my hand and suggested I enjoy it with a cigar which is what I’m about to do.

Handles, toe kick and fiddly bits left and we should be outta here. Want to do some running around tomorrow and hit the road early on Wednesday.
