💚💛 OUR FIRST HOCKEY WEEKEND IS IN THE BOOKS! 💛💚

Well, friends… we made it! 🥰🏒

After a short whirlwind of preparing our new space, learning unfamiliar equipment, navigating staffing, and figuring out all the little things that come with starting something new, we’ve officially made it through our first hockey weekend at the Consort Sportex concession!

And honestly? Our hearts 💕 are FULL. 🥹

We’ve been so encouraged by the warm welcome and support we’ve received from the Consort community and surrounding communities. Seeing people stop by, give us a chance, and embrace this new chapter means more to us than we can adequately express.

THANK YOU for your patience, kindness, encouragement, and continued support as we find our footing. We’re learning, adjusting, and improving every day, and we’re incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful community alongside us as we grow.

A heartfelt thank-you to the Village of Consort for giving us this opportunity to serve the community in a new way. We’re excited about what we’re building here and all the possibilities still ahead! 💚

We would be remiss if we didn’t give a heartfelt shout-out to Ron and Belinda Sutton, who ran the Sportex concession for so many years and have left such a special mark on this community. They are dearly loved by so many, and we’re incredibly grateful to have had their guidance and support as we step into this new chapter.

They’ve shared an incredible wealth of knowledge, invaluable tips and tricks, concession supplies, supplier connections, and so much practical wisdom that would have taken us ages to figure out on our own. But beyond all of that, they’ve given us something just as valuable: their time, encouragement, generosity, and genuine kindness. 🥹

We’re following in some pretty big footsteps, and we’re so thankful they were willing to help us find our footing. Ron and Belinda, thank you for sharing so much of yourselves with us and for helping set us up for success. You are both very special to us, and we hope you know just how much we appreciate you. You will always have a place in our hearts! 🫶🏼

🍟 AND WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS!

Today was a successful run with the fryers, which means we’re ready to start expanding our offerings! We’ll be working toward introducing delicious additions like gravy and poutine very soon. And tomorrow, we’re planning to fire up the grill for speed skating, with some yummy burgers joining the lineup! 🍔🙌

One step at a time, we’re getting there!

We also want to give a HUGE shout-out to our son, Richard, who was an incredible help in the kitchen today. ❤️ He pushed through immense pain while awaiting ear surgery, and we’re so proud of him and grateful for the time and effort he gave us. Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers as he awaits/has that surgery. 🙏🏼

And, of course, a special thank-you to Dave for awarding our fries a GOLD STAR REVIEW! ⭐🍟 You have no idea how much those little moments of encouragement mean to us!

✨ AND THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!

Our menu will continue to grow and expand significantly in the coming weeks! We have so many ideas and plans, and we can hardly wait to bring them to life.

🕒 WONDERING WHEN YOU CAN STOP BY? ☕🍔

🕒 We’ll also be starting to post our concession hours so you know when to pop in for a bite to eat, a hot coffee, a cold drink, a snack, (coming soon!) some of our beloved handcrafted baked goods, and many other exciting things yet to be announced! 🥰

And remember, you don’t have to be at the Sportex for a game to stop by! Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch, a coffee on the go, an afternoon snack, or just a little something to enjoy, we’d love to see you! Keep an eye on our page for upcoming hours and updates as we get settled into our new routine. 💚💛

But we want to do this right!

We would rather start with a smaller selection, learn our equipment, perfect our processes, and consistently deliver the quality and precision we take such pride in than overextend ourselves before we’re ready. We believe good food is worth doing well, and we want every new item we introduce to reflect that commitment.

Whether you’ve been enjoying our handcrafted baking for months or you’re just getting to know us through the concession, we hope you’ll come to appreciate the care, effort, and heart we pour into everything we do. 🤲🏼

🎉 BIG NEWS, FRIENDS! WE’RE EXPANDING! 🎉

We’ve been keeping a pretty exciting secret, and we can finally share it with you! 🥰

The Humble Hope Homestead has officially partnered with the Village of Consort and will be running the concession at the Consort Sportex! 💚

This is such an exciting new chapter for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in another way. What started with a love for creating handcrafted baked goods is growing into something even bigger, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us!

🏒 SOFT OPENING THIS WEEKEND! 🍔🍟

With hockey season underway and a busy weekend ahead, we’re jumping right in! For our soft opening, we’ll be starting with some familiar concession favourites, including a variety of pop, Gatorade, flip-top bottled water (so much easier to open with hockey gloves on! 😉), chips, and more!

☕ Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be available, too, so you can grab something warm while you’re cheering on your favourite players!

✨ And exciting news for the coffee lovers… new hot and cold brews are coming soon! Just not quite in time for this weekend. Stay tuned! 👀

Now, here’s the exciting part: THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!

We have BIG plans for this space. Our menu will continue to grow and evolve as we explore suppliers, discover local favourites, and find the right products and partnerships to bring you the best experience we can. We want this to become a place where great food, community spirit, and a little Humble Hope hospitality come together. 🫶🏼

And for those of you who have come to know and love our handcrafted baked goods at markets and through special orders, DON’T WORRY… THE BAKED GOODS ARE COMING! 🍪🍰

We’ve had a whirlwind of a turnaround getting everything ready for this weekend! Between sourcing supplies, deep-cleaning and preparing the kitchen, and unpacking and organizing our new space, we simply haven’t had the time to get baking just yet. But trust us, we’re already looking forward to bringing those familiar flavours into this new chapter, too!

As with any new adventure, there will be a learning curve as we settle into the space, fine-tune our processes, and find what works best for our customers. We humbly ask for your patience as we find our footing and continue building something special. We’re starting small, learning as we go, and growing one step at a time to create something we’re proud of—and something you’ll look forward to visiting! 🥰

Our goal is the same as it has always been: to pour our hearts into what we do, serve our community well, and create food and experiences that keep you coming back. We hope to build the same kind of love and loyalty around our concession offerings that you’ve shown our handcrafted baking. That kind of support means the world to us, and we don’t take it for granted.

➡️ A LITTLE CHANGE AT THE HUMBLE HOPE HOMESTEAD 🤍

Please note that you’ll soon see the 🇨🇦 Canadian flag on our driveway signage replaced with this simple OPEN flag.

Why? Because, unfortunately, we’ve noticed that in today’s increasingly divided Alberta, even a flag can lead people to make assumptions about who you are, what you believe, and where you stand politically.

Flying a Canadian flag can lead some to assume you support everything coming out of Ottawa or agree with Liberal policies. Flying an Alberta flag can lead others to assume you support separatism.

Neither flag tells the whole story of who we are. And frankly, neither is the reason we’re here.

We’re here because we’re a family-owned and operated rural Alberta business, working hard to build something meaningful, serve our community, and share the quality products we pour our hearts into creating.

💙 We are PROUD Albertans.
💙 We are PROUD Conservatives.
🤍 We are HUMBLE children of God.

And we welcome and serve anyone who comes to us with kindness, respect, and an appreciation for supporting local.

Whether you care about rural businesses, Alberta farms, homesteads, quality food, wholesome ingredients, or simply finding something delicious and handcrafted, there’s a place for you here.

You don’t have to share our politics to shop with us. You just have to be respectful.

Our personal beliefs and political positions are no secret. If you’re curious, you’re welcome to visit my personal social media and see for yourself. We’re not hiding who we are, nor are we asking anyone to pretend to be someone they’re not.

But we do believe there’s a time and a place for political debate, and our farm stand and market tables aren’t the place for hostility, hate, or division.

So, when you visit The Humble Hope Homestead
we ask that you leave the politics and division at the roadside. Come as you are, treat others with kindness, and let’s focus on what brings us together rather than what pulls us apart.

We put an incredible amount of care, effort, and pride into what we make. We believe in honest work, quality ingredients, handcrafted products, and doing our best to serve our customers well.

We hope you’ll judge us by those things—and by the way we treat you—not simply by a flag or an assumption.

And if our personal beliefs mean you choose not to support our small, hardworking, rural Alberta business, that’s your choice. We respect your freedom to make it. We also believe that one day, each of us will answer to our Creator for our own actions, words, thoughts, and choices.

Until then, we’ll keep doing what we believe we’ve been called to do: working hard, serving others, and building something rooted in faith, hope, and perseverance.

The flag may be changing, but our values aren’t. 🤍
