RHAD is excited to share that Le Centre Des Anciens Combattant de Clare - Clare Veteran’s Centre has achieved official Rick Hansen Certification.

This new recreation centre was designed to replace aging Veteran’s Centre with new accessibility features, a new sprung dance floor, a community room, updated accessible and universal washrooms, and commercial kitchen. The building has become a well used and loved facility in the small community.

Meet Tony Bonnar — RHAD BIM Manager

Tony has been working at the intersection of architecture, construction and emerging technology for more than 25 years—often well before the technology became industry standard. Although he works out of our New Brunswick office, he conducts seminars with our team on a regular basis to ensure cutting edge technological capabilities.

A longtime Revit specialist and former Autodesk Certified Revit Expert, Tony’s career has taken him from Autodesk University and developer-led Tech Camps to some of the Maritimes’ early Scan-to-BIM integrations. He was also part of an initial testing team for Autodesk Field and has spent years exploring how point clouds, GPS, virtual reality and digital coordination can fundamentally change the way buildings are designed and constructed.

His experience eventually took him to the U.S., where he worked on major healthcare and institutional projects, including leading mechanical coordination for a 430,000 sq. ft. corrections facility. Using multidisciplinary BIM and virtual reality, the team coordinated building systems for prefabrication—bringing digital modelling directly into how the project was built.

Now, as BIM Manager at RHAD, Tony is helping shape the next generation of our digital practice. He leads BIM coordination and technical workflows across the studio while bringing that same curiosity to project delivery, visualization and construction.

For Tony, technology isn’t the end goal. It’s a tool for designing smarter, coordinating better, and building with greater precision.

And when he’s not pushing pixels, point clouds and BIM models, you’ll likely find him coaching youth hockey, training, or mentoring athletes—bringing the same energy for learning and improvement well beyond the studio.

25+ years in, and still asking: what can we do better?

When building custom homes, drawings and design can only take us so far. Working with top-tier builders and drawing on their depth of knowledge and their experienced team is what allows our vision to become a reality.

We truly appreciate having a team that pays attention to every detail, proactively suggests ways to make the design better, simpler, and sharper than originally drawn, and works seamlessly through the thousands of daily decisions required on a project like this. Today, we want to celebrate Cole Built and your enormous contribution to the success of the Bridge House.

Bridge House | Interiors

Warm oak, natural light, and a carefully considered material palette bring continuity to the interiors of Bridge House.

An open atrium connects the two levels, while integrated cabinetry and thoughtful detailing allow the architecture to remain the focus.

Bridge House

A trio of carved sheds forms a house where the journey, physically and visually, is the feature of the home.

A long pedestrian bridge over the steeply sloping landscape leads from the parking area to the entry of the home, gradually revealing views of the surrounding landscape along the way. Inside, bridges, stairs and an atrium exposed to below connect the two levels and activate the entire house.

With a topography-first design approach, Bridge House works in concert with the unique landscape in which it finds itself.

Two Bay House, Cape Breton Island.

A large portion of the upper floor is carved away, forming a central void overlooking the communal spaces below. A loft and glass-walled bridge allow light, conversation, and activity to move freely between levels.

The spaces between become as important as the spaces themselves.
