What a night. ❤️ Summerland Strong.

Great food on the table. Incredible local w**e and c***r in the glasses. And, most importantly, a room full of fabulous people who came together for a community that means so much to all of us.

Our Summerland Strong fundraising dinner brought together five courses, five outstanding Summerland producers and one very special evening in support of those impacted by this summer’s Bald Range wildfire.

A huge thank you to Okanagan Crush Pad, Dominion C***r Co., 8th Generation Vineyard, Solvero Wines and Lightning Rock Winery for joining us at the table and helping make the evening such a success.

Chef Rod Butters and our team loved creating the five-course menu, and our guests brought the generosity, laughter and wonderful energy that filled the room.

And that really was the best part was seeing a table full of people enjoying delicious food, raising a glass and coming together for Summerland.

To everyone who attended, donated, contributed and helped make the evening happen: thank you.

There’s something pretty special about getting this many chefs together around one fire. 🔥

This September, Chef Rod Butters joined an incredible group of culinary talent at CooksCamp - a gathering built around good food, collaboration, sharing knowledge and the kind of camaraderie that happens when chefs get out of their kitchens and cook together.

Rod had the honour of leading the team for the World’s Largest Family Meal, including the rather impressive task of cooking 12 whole turkeys over open charcoal. And, in true Cooks Camp fashion, everyone jumped in wherever they were needed including Top Chef Canada winner Coulson Armstrong, who found himself cracking crab.

For Rod, it was also a chance to cook alongside some familiar faces and longtime friends from a career spanning decades, including the legendary Chef Bruno Marti.

His friend and fellow NAIT Chef in Residence Blair Lebsack came from Edmonton. Michael Viloria, now Corporate Chef for GFS, and Rod go all the way back to 1993, when they worked together at the Shangri-La Pacific Palisades. And Calgary’s talented Duncan Ly first crossed paths with Rod during his early days as a dishwasher and apprentice at the Wickaninnish Inn.

Old friends. New connections. A whole lot of fire. And one very big family meal.

That’s the magic of CooksCamp, bringing Canada’s culinary community together to cook, learn, share and reconnect.

We’re proud that our Chef Butters was right in the middle of it. ❤️🔥

A little more beauty has been added to Summerland Strong. ❤️

Vancouver Island glass artist Ted Jolda has generously donated a set of four of his stunning hand-blown glasses to be auctioned off at Saturday night’s fundraising dinner.

If you’ve joined us at The Okanagan Table, you’ll recognize them, we use Ted’s beautiful glassware on our own tables, and carry his work in the shop. Each piece is individually hand blown, wonderfully unique and, quite simply, a joy to drink from.

And on Saturday night, one lucky bidder will be taking a set of four home.

It’s another generous contribution to an evening that is all about coming together for Summerland Strong and supporting our neighbours impacted by the Bald Range wildfire.
