RIDGE'S FUN FACT FRIDAY!

🤔 Ever Wonder Why Cedar Smells So Good?

That fresh, warm, woodsy smell of cedar isn't just pleasant — it's all natural!

Cedar contains natural aromatic oils and compounds that give it that amazing, distinctive scent we all love!

Here's something interesting!

✅ Cedar's natural aroma can help repel certain insects, including moths.

✅ The scent can last for years, especially when the wood is freshly cut or sanded.

✅ Cedar's natural oils also contribute to its resistance to decay.

Whether you're using cedar for a beautiful feature wall, a closet, or an outdoor project, that wonderful smell is just one more reason to love it! ❤️

At Ridge Cedar, we think there's nothing quite like the smell of freshly cut cedar!

What's your favourite smell — freshly cut cedar or freshly cut pine? Let us know in the comments! 👇

BEHIND THE JOB MONDAY – MEET TIM HAWKINS
This week, we’re going Behind the Job with the owner of Ridge Cedar, Tim Hawkins!
When we say Tim does it all around here, we mean it!
You might find him answering the phones, helping customers, loading orders, picking orders, making deliveries, offering advice to employees or even stepping into the mill when an extra set of hands is needed.
Being the owner doesn’t mean sitting behind a desk at Ridge Cedar. Tim is right there alongside the crew, doing whatever needs to be done to keep things moving.
He’s always there when we need advice, a helping hand or someone to point us in the right direction.
What would we do without Tim?
He truly is our guiding light here at Ridge Cedar, and we’re pretty lucky to have him leading the way.
That’s a little Behind the Job look at Tim Hawkins — Owner of Ridge Cedar!

Ever wonder what “Linear Feet” means?

You’ve probably seen us advertise products at Ridge Cedar with prices like $2.49/lf — but what exactly does LF mean?
LF stands for Linear Foot, and it’s simply a measurement of length.

1 Linear Foot = 12 inches in length
For example, if you purchase a board that is 10 feet long, that board contains 10 linear feet.
So if a product is $2.49/lf, a 10-foot piece would cost:
10 ft × $2.49 = $24.90

The width and thickness of the board don't change its linear-foot measurement — we're simply measuring how long the piece is.

FUN FACT: Linear feet is one of the most common ways we price many of our wood products here at Ridge Cedar!
Now the next time you see $/lf, you'll know exactly what it means! 😉
