Putting a high-performance window into a rough opening sounds simple. Until you start asking the right questions.

Mike Cairns from our team was recently invited to BS + B**r Canada to talk about window installation and why great window installation requires a lot more than a great window.

-Where should the window actually sit within the wall assembly?

-Can a perfectly good detail fail because the membranes were installed in the wrong sequence?

- And how do you support a heavy, triple-glazed unit without creating a leak path or thermal bridge?

Mike walks through window placement, the control layers of the building envelope, structural attachment, water management and real-world examples where the site didn’t quite match the drawing.

Because when it comes to high-performance construction, the drawing may define the goal, but getting there takes building science, experience and a field judgment.
