PLANT OF THE WEEK - Orchid 🌸
Place in bright, indirect light, (East or West facing windows work well) Avoid strong afternoon sun.
💦 Watering: placing 3 ice cubes per week on top of the orchid bark mix (not touching roots) is a good amount, and easy to do. If you struggle with orchids try skipping the ice cubes and use lukewarm water instead as the ice can shock the plant if it's touching the roots - which are often exposed. Orchids will often grow on trees or rocks in the wild 🌴 so if your orchid has roots hanging over the side of your pot... That's okay!!! These are called aerial roots. It is for this reason that orchids are often planted in clear pots. To allow light to reach the roots for photosynthesis, and for you to read the health of your plant better. Bright green roots = still well hydrated; do not water. Silvery/grey roots = dry & ready for watering. Orchids are beautiful and easy to care for; location (East or West window), and pot (clear with drainage) are key 🗝️ ENJOY! 😍
