Sometimes buildings just need to come down! This shed that sits in front of the big barn has been in rough shape since day one when we purchased the place. Now remember when we bought the place the deal was the previous owner could leave behind whatever she wanted to make the transition easier for her. Well this shed came packed with all kinds of “stuff” and sorting it out was a job in itself. It also had raccoons living in the top part and lots of holes and rotted out beams so it was one of those things that has been left until now. Jason was determined to knock it down and all I asked is that my catalpa tree didn’t get flattened in the process. I also hoped that the raspberry patch could be spared if possible. Oh and I didn’t want him to destroy my flowerbed either. And I asked if he could remove a door from the side to save for a future project. Other than that I was all for knocking it down, lol.
He managed to do pretty well given the space he was working in and his little tractor. The big steel pipe on the end of the bucket and poking at it seemed to work in the end. And the tree is still standing and half the raspberry patch is still producing berries and hardly any flowers were injured in the process 😂👍. We even found a few cool things like an old wooden crate with Lyndhurst printed on it. I will load a couple videos of Jason and the tractor in a separate post.

Rainy days are crafty days here at Daisy May and I’m looking for advice on how to arrange 3 circular decorative objects on a wall. I saved these three decorative pieces that fit over stove pipes to put them to use somewhere. I used a still brush to sand them and then spray painted them and am ordering some circular mirrors to try to fit in them. Once completed I want to hang them on the wall behind my grandmother’s deacons bench that sits just inside our side door. I think they will go well with the brass boot remover that was also discovered in the old shed.
The lighter coloured hall wall has two photos with gold coloured frames so that’s why I chose a gold flecked paint. The last photos are what they looked like before.
Ideas for arranging them is appreciated.

It was an exciting day yesterday when the old milk shed got moved into a new spot to begin the transformation into a garden shed. This was one of those big asks when last year I asked Jason if he thought the milk shed could be moved so it would be somewhere more convenient and would also help clear the lake view when you drive in the yard.

Jason thought it was doable and he was right! The other weekend he and Carter made a platform for it and managed to get the shed pulled onto the platform. It was a tricky job to do with some stressful moments of boards cracking and things shifting but with Carter in the truck and Jason on the tractor and lots of last minute adjustments it got onto the platform.

Cody thankfully joined in helping this weekend and in his words “The GM got it done when the Dodge couldn’t”, the shed got towed over to its new spot. With some final shifting into place with the tractor the old milk shed built in 1941 will begin being transformed into my new garden shed! I can’t wait! Stay tuned.

Our living room is finally almost done and I think Jason did an incredible job! This is the part of the house we sealed off from the main house for a couple of years. When we first started there were squirrels that made this part home 😬. It needed a new foundation, new roof, new floor joists, new walls, and you name it. It was a big project and Jason tackled it with pure determination to make my design a reality. I wanted a high ceiling that followed the roofline. He wasn’t sure how he was going to do it but I had faith in his renovation and construction skills. There was talk about making a flat ceiling but I saw something with character that could be in pine and Jason delivered what i envisioned just like I knew he could.
Thanks to Uncle Mark for creating a few custom wood trim pieces for the ceiling.
The floor hatch isn’t totally complete but I think we can say the room is a success even with some finishing touches left to complete.
Every time I walk into this room it makes me smile! 😊 ❤️
Photos from now to the beginning.
