Design your kitchen around your actual life. Groceries, snack requests, dinner prep, dishwasher traffic—all of it.

Thoughtful layouts make everyday tasks easier and leave room for the connection that happens along the way.

What’s the ONE thing in your kitchen that makes your daily routine harder than it needs to be? Tell me below. 👇

Earth, air, fire and water. Somehow Project Martin’s renovation managed to involve almost ALL of them. There were floods. There was a fire. And eventually, this family found themselves essentially designing their home from scratch—which was definitelyyy not Plan A.

So hearing Alex say she felt supported through all of it means more than she probably knows. My job became thinking three steps ahead: light switches, traffic flow, shoe storage, the mudroom, laundry…all those tiny decisions that aren’t particularly glamorous but make a massive difference once you move back in.

Alex said she couldn’t have done it without me. Truthfully, I’m just incredibly grateful they trusted me with their home through all the unexpected turns it took. 🤍

Every house seems to have one… the room that looks lovely and never gets used.
If your formal living or dining room hasn’t seen much life lately, it might be ready for a new job. A home office, a library, a homework room. Design for the life you actually have.
Is there a room in your house you rarely use?

Hot take… the TV over the fireplace isn’t a design mistake.
In a lot of rooms it’s the wall that makes the most sense. The key is planning the height, the heat clearances, and the wall around it so it looks intentional.
Where’s your TV right now? Over the fireplace, yes or no?

Unpopular opinion… please don’t rip out the tub just because it’s trendy.
In a larger primary bathroom, a freestanding tub is both a focal point and a place to actually unwind. With the right layout, you don’t have to choose between a great shower and a great bath.
Team tub or team big shower?

A sightline is the view from one part of your home into another and once you start looking for them, you see them EVERYWHERE. 👀

Design doesn’t stop at the doorway. What does your eye land on when you walk into your home?

Sometimes a brand new room needs something with a little HISTORY! An antique, vintage piece, family object or weird estate sale find can bring in the patina and personality that you just can’t order overnight.

What’s something old you love in YOUR home?

Can we talk about the random bedroom corner that nobody knows what to do with? Because I have THOUGHTS. You know the one. Too small for anything major, too big to just leave sitting there looking awkward.

At Project Camden, we turned ours into this cozy little landing spot with a proper chair, ottoman and tiny drink table. Coffee in the morning, somewhere to read before bed, or—let’s be realistic—the occasional place to throw tomorrow’s outfit.

And I love what it does for the bedroom as a whole. Not every inch needs to be packed with furniture, but giving an awkward corner a purpose can make the entire room feel so much more considered.

Three just has a way of looking RIGHT 👀
The Rule of Three is one of those design tricks you probably use without even realizing it. But like most design “rules”…sometimes knowing when to break it is the best part.
Do you use the Rule of Three in your designs?

Mixing patterns is basically a very carefully managed group chat 😂 Everybody gets to have a personality but they cannot ALL be talking at once. Scale, color, rhythm and a little breathing room are what keep the whole thing together.
Are you a pattern mixer or does this make you nervous?!
