Who doesn't love an old fashioned coffee cake?
Who remembers baking coffee cake in Home Economics Class?
It was one of the first things I learned to bake in class.
HOME ECONOMICS COFFEE CAKE 1970's
This recipe is for a 8 ' cake pan
Bake time is 375 for 30 minutes{
1 stick butter, softened
1 cup packed Brown Sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
In Large mixing bowl add soften stick of butter and brown sugar, set aside
In a sifter
add the
flour
baking powder
salt
cinnamon
Sift this over the top of the butter /brown sugar and Mix till slightly crumbly.
Now scoop out 1/2 cup of this mixture and set aside
into remaining mix add a well beaten egg and 1/2 cup milk . Mix well . Pour batter into a well greased pan , smooth out and then take that 1/2 cup flaky mixture & sprinkle evenly over the top
Bake 375 for 30 minutes
