The Highway Community Kitchen would like to extend a sincere thank you to Southport Aerospace for their generous donation of $2,500!

Of this donation, $2,000 will support the ongoing needs of our kitchen, helping us continue providing meals to those in our community experiencing food insecurity.

The remaining $500 will support our Essentials Program, which helps individuals and families facing financial hardship access essential personal care and household products needed for everyday living.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Southport Aerospace and their commitment to making a difference in our community.

Busy day at the SK.
Thought I would listen to my tunes make some food have some fun
I fid make food had a blast but had to stop with music because every so often we all show up. And today was that day. Fellow coordinators Marlene Carol amd Arlene showed up and got right to work organizing upstairs. Rhiannon also popped in and we were delighted to see Wren Then I was fortunate enough to work my shift with Jacinda from the Huddle Betty Jean and Adele . Lee Ann split her time between the two groups and much was accomplished. Then Adam showed up with JJ to help pack the Gap meal

Not alot of fresh pictures of our helpers today but they were there . Hope they had as much fun as I did .
The day was sealed by how pleased the volunteers were by the food we served. Always a good day with my crew and coordinators.

Pop on down tomorrow new crew, food will be good with everyone pitching in, fun is mandatory,
And we going to sail into weekend on good vibes

Nearly 80 people gathered around our tables for Thanksgiving dinner! 🦃🍂

And what a lovely day it was.

There was wonderful food, plenty of laughter, familiar faces, new faces, and some very special little ones who made the day even brighter.

One little girl wanted to take her dinner home to share with her uncle. It’s those little moments that stay with us.

For once, we had the opportunity to spend more time on the other side of the kitchen wall, visiting with the people we’ve come to know and care about. What a pleasure that was.

Coordinators, Tracy, Marlene, Arlene and Carol give thanks to our wonderful volunteers, Leanne, Betty Jean, Adele, Angel, Adam and his helpers from CMHA. You helped make the day so special.

And to the generous people, businesses and organizations of Portage la Prairie and district, thank you. Once again, your kindness made it possible for us to bring our community together around a good meal.

But perhaps the nicest part of the day wasn’t the turkey or all the trimmings.

It was the smiles, the conversations, the children, and the familiar faces that have become such an important part of our days.

We may have served nearly 80 dinners, but we came away with something just as wonderful, a whole lot of lovely memories. ❤️

🍂 A Weekend of Gratitude 🍂

As we head into the long weekend, we are reminded of just how many wonderful people step up to support Highway Community Kitchen.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who quietly drop off fresh produce and choose to remain anonymous. Your kindness does not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful.

A special thank you to Cathie McFarlane, who has once again remembered us with a generous donation of carrots, beets, and onions! Your timing couldn't have been better!

Every donation, large or small, makes a difference, and we appreciate each and every one.

From all of us at Highway Community Kitchen, we wish you a peaceful weekend filled with moments and people who give you reason to be thankful. ❤️

Please note: The Kitchen will be closed Monday, but we will be back serving lunch on Tuesday!

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful folks at Prairie Abattoir for their generous donation of turkeys for our turkey meal! ❤️

Their kindness couldn't have come at a better time! Whether it's answering our panicked phone calls for supplies or delivering right to our kitchen with a smile, they always come through for us.

We're so grateful for their generosity and ongoing support of what we do. Thank you, Prairie Abattoir! ❤️

A huge Thank You to these ladies who arrived with 2 boxes of freshly dug potatoes on behalf of Espey Potato Growers.
We can't thank them enough for getting those heavy boxes of fresh red potatoes to us.
