After a big rain, your basement starts dropping hints 💧 Here are five signs water is getting in:

1️⃣ White, chalky powder on the concrete
2️⃣ Tide marks on the walls
3️⃣ A musty smell that won't go away
4️⃣ Paint that bubbles or peels
5️⃣ A damp line where the wall meets the floor

Day 2 of a basement reno, and the rain got here first 🌧️

After one heavy storm, we found water marks on the wall. Waterproofing wasn't in the original plan, but we'd much rather find it now than after the drywall goes up.

The plan:
1️⃣ Take this wall out and find where the water is coming in
2️⃣ Put a membrane on the wall
3️⃣ Bring in the plumber to run the weeper to the sump pump, which sits all the way in the next room
