Ever wondered why outdoor wood slowly turns from warm brown to silver-grey? It's nature at work. Exposure to UV light, rain, moisture, and changing seasons gradually alters the surface of the wood. Sunlight breaks down lignin, which contributes to wood's natural colour, while weather washes away some of the affected material. Over time, this creates the distinctive silver-grey patina often seen on old barns, fences, decks, and outdoor timber.
That weathered appearance doesn't automatically mean the wood is deteriorating. Often, it's simply the surface changing with age and exposure. Some people protect the original colour with an appropriate finish. Others let nature take over and embrace the silver.
Different look. Same natural character.
