Most people pick the colour first and leave the edge until last. In a Vaughan kitchen the island is usually the first thing you see when you walk in, and the edge is what makes it read as stone instead of as a counter sitting on a box.
A waterfall carries the slab down the side to the floor rather than stopping at the cabinet. The corner is mitred, which means two pieces cut at forty five degrees and joined, so the vein keeps running around the turn instead of stopping dead at the edge.
Two things worth knowing before you plan one. It uses more material than a square edge, so it moves the quote. And because quartz is engineered rather than quarried, the pattern stays consistent, which is why the island and the main run read as one kitchen instead of two stones that nearly match.
One honest caveat we give everyone: do not set a hot pan straight down on quartz. A trivet handles it completely.
Quartz countertops start from $2,499 depending on the size and layout of your kitchen. Cabinets are not included and the sink is priced separately.
