Start with the grain.

Slide one is about three inches of hand-blown glass. Slide four is the room it lives in.

At Fleurette in La Jolla, Studio UNLTD and lighting designer Maura Clark Studio set out to build intimacy inside a three-sided glass building, a modern, angular volume clad in a rust-coloured steel veil, with a ceiling that drops steeply as it moves inward.

VISO fabricated the Art Nouveau-inspired blown glass shades that arc over the bar tables: tulip forms, or "fleurettes," each one hand blown so no two carry exactly the same organic curve, mounted on sculptural black metal stems.
Hand blowing was the only way to get there. A mould would have given us consistency. We wanted the opposite, the slight irregularity that reads as botanical rather than manufactured.

Alignment is the whole job according to our President, Tzetzy.
A vision can pass through dozens of hands before it reaches the ceiling—design, engineering, fabrication, shipping, installation.
At every handoff, something can be lost such as the finish becomes a specification, the drawing becomes a dimension and the vision becomes a fixture.
Alignment keeps that from happening. To be aligned means everyone understands not just what is being built, but why. Because the best projects aren’t simply built correctly. They arrive exactly as they were imagined.
That’s the magic.

Across the Middle East, ambitious visions in Riyadh, Dubai, and Kuwait have challenged us to turn concepts that existed only on paper into extraordinary realities.

At Four Seasons Kuwait at Burj Alshaya, a hairline bronze chandelier became exactly that:
1,241 integral LEDs, hand-finished brass tubes, and a level of precision that demanded engineering from the very beginning.

Because the best results happen when fabrication isn’t an afterthought.

A room can hold you, or it can just hold your seat.

VISO designs for the first one.

Movement, first. The way a chandelier catches light differently depending on where you're standing. The way a room shifts in feeling as the sun goes down and the sconces take over.

Emotion, second. Not just what a space looks like at six o'clock, but what it does to the people inside it. Whether they linger. Lean in a little closer in dim light. Forget to check their phone.

Ambiance, always. The mood a fixture creates long before anyone stops to notice the fixture itself.

That's the brief we give ourselves on every project: build the kind of environment people actually want to be in, and let the lighting do quiet, essential work underneath it. 💡

Inside a historic Memphis foundry, the ceiling was built to match the building's bones.

For Amelia Gene, VISO suspended 1,953 hand-blown glass crystals in silver, amber, and black on cables designed to disappear, each one mapped by hand beneath a mirrored copper canopy.

Up close, it reads as fragments. Pull back, and the room does the rest: kept dark on purpose, so the amber has somewhere to glow. ✨

Four cities, four very different ceilings.

In Toronto, a fleet of fluted rose-glass fans opens across a double-height atrium, each one crowned over a soft white diffuser so the light lands warm instead of sharp.

In Miami, a rippling curtain of fine chain suspends above the bar at Sofia, a surface that reads as textile until you stand under it and watch it catch light like water.

In Dubai, amber orbs float within reeded arch screens, glowing against travertine and terrazzo in a room built entirely out of curves.

In New York, hand-formed petal shades drop on slender brass stems through the arch at Host on Howard, quiet enough to let the candlelight and the green lacquer carry the room.

Having presence in multiple regions isn't about the pin on a map. It's about what it lets us source, and how fast. On a recent project, matching a decorative band inside a wall sconce meant finding one specific fabric and pattern that came only from Italy, and doing it without moving the budget.

Global reach is really just this: when a design intent depends on a material that exists in exactly one place, we can go get it.

Light reaches you before anything else does.

Before you register form, finish, or scale, you've already felt the temperature of a room and decided how to be in it.

At VISO, light is atmosphere first, object second. The slow amber warmth of dusk. Hand-blown glass, softening a hard line into something gentler. The quiet ritual of a room settling into evening. ✨

Shadow carries as much weight as glow. Materiality does the emotional work. The fixture becomes less a product, more a presence.
