AN EVENING WITH STONE TILE || Design & Connection.
There’s something special about bringing together the people who share a passion for design.

Recently, our Principal & Founder, Aleem Kassam, had the pleasure of organizing an intimate dinner hosted by Stone Tile, bringing together our KALU team and four fellow Vancouver interior design studios for an evening of connection, conversation, and collaboration.

The evening was an opportunity to explore Stone Tile’s latest collections, discover new materials, gain inspiration, and exchange ideas with some of the talented creatives who make Vancouver’s design community so special.

A sincere thank you to Stone Tile for graciously hosting us, and to AK Design, Meme Brooks Design, Daniel Meloche Design, and Alison Kent and their teams for joining us.

It’s always a pleasure to connect beyond our studios, strengthen industry relationships, and celebrate the shared creativity that continues to inspire our work.

MATHERS RESIDENCE || Bringing the Indoors Out.

At the back of our Mathers Residence, expansive ocean views and an existing pool set the stage for a complete reimagining of the home’s outdoor spaces.

The new design will introduce an outdoor kitchen, dedicated seating and fire pit areas, covered spaces, a second-level patio, poolside cabanas, and a series of new door systems connecting the kitchen and living areas directly to the exterior.

By creating a more seamless transition between indoors and out, the goal is to
transform the entire back of the property into an extension of the home and a natural hub for entertaining, gathering, and everyday living.

We can’t wait to share more as this transformation takes shape.

TESTIMONIAL || The Full Review

“We’re SO happy to have found Aleem and Kalu by Kassam to work with. From the very beginning, Aleem was so easy to work with. Selecting interior finishings can be overwhelming but Aleem was great at making the process transparent and fun. The professionalism at Kalu is excellent - deadlines were never missed, work was done to the highest quality, and they worked well with our vendors.

Aleem was also knowledgeable beyond the aesthetic aspect of design, helping us to choose things that were practical to our lives (such as materials that are easy to clean). One thing we appreciated was that Aleem never pushed a certain style on us - when we felt something didn’t feel right, he was adaptable and easy to work with to find something that felt like home to us.

We’re thrilled with our end result - which is a reflection of Aleem’s knowledge and passion for design - and we will ALWAYS recommend Kalu by Kassam.”

— Serena Mawani

Thank you, Serena, for your thoughtful words and for trusting Kalu by Kassam with your home.

We believe exceptional interior design goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about understanding how you live, finding the balance between beauty and practicality, and creating spaces that feel authentically yours.

From selecting the right materials to navigating the finer details of a renovation, our approach is rooted in collaboration, transparency, and thoughtful design decisions. No two homes or homeowners are alike, and we believe every space should reflect the people who live within it.

It was a pleasure bringing your vision to life and creating a home that feels as functional as it is beautiful. Thank you again for your trust and recommendation. We are truly grateful to have been part of your journey.

KING GEORGE RESIDENCE || The Details Are Coming Together, Part II.

Thoughtful design is often about recognizing opportunities within a space and making every detail work harder.
In the primary suite at our King George Residence, new custom millwork transforms previously underutilized areas into beautiful, functional moments. Positioned beside expansive windows overlooking downtown Vancouver, a bespoke cosmetic area creates a dedicated place to get ready while taking in the view.

Along the hallway, floating millwork dresser units maximize storage within a narrower footprint, turning what could have simply been a passageway into a practical and considered feature.

The final details will include Zebrano marble countertops and bronze mirror, adding another layer of materiality and refinement to the suite.

It’s these bespoke integrations that allow a home to feel truly tailored to the people who live within it.

More from King George Residence coming soon.

IDS VANCOUVER || Inspired by Design. Connected by Community.

Feeling incredibly inspired and grateful after another memorable IDS Vancouver.

There’s something truly special about Vancouver’s design community. The opportunity to connect with fellow designers, discover new products and innovations, engage with industry partners, and hear fresh perspectives through meaningful conversations and thought-provoking talks is a reminder of why we love what we do.

Beyond the beautiful spaces and inspiring installations, it’s the people, creativity, and shared passion for design that make events like IDS so meaningful.

As a Vancouver-based interior design studio, we feel honoured to be part of an industry that continues to evolve, challenge conventions, and push the boundaries of what’s possible.

A sincere thank you to Interior Design Show Vancouver, the incredible vendors, designers, speakers, and everyone who contributed to such an inspiring week.

Leaving with fresh ideas, new connections, and an even greater appreciation for the creative community we’re fortunate to be part of.
