IMPORTANT NOTICE: NO PUMPKIN OR LEAF DROP-OFFS THIS SEASON 🎃🍂
Please do not leave pumpkins or leaf debris at MD Gardens or the Warman High School this season.
Unfortunately, due to a change in our circumstances (and the realization that we’re getting too old to smash hundreds of pumpkins by hand! 😅), we are unable to accept pumpkin waste or leaf debris this year.
For the past three years, MD Gardens has happily accepted pumpkins and leaf debris after Halloween to help divert organic waste from the landfill to help reduce unnecessary methane gas production. We’ve loved being part of this community effort!
🎃 Please give your pumpkins a second home! Rather than sending them to the landfill, consider:
-Composting in your own yard.
-Using your city’s designated pumpkin disposal bins, where available ♻️. The city of Warman’s runs from October 31st until November 3rd.
-Donating them to a local farmer who can use them
-Contacting a wildlife sanctuary to see if they can accept them 🐾
If you’re donating to a farm or sanctuary, please arrange the donation with them first rather than simply dropping items off. And please, DO NOT dump pumpkins in the wild! They can create problems for wildlife and the environment.
Thank you for understanding and for helping us keep this community initiative going in other ways. Every little bit of organic waste that is diverted makes a difference! 💚
Wishing everyone a safe, fun-filled Halloween and happy trick-or-treating! 👻🍬
