Temple of Thought — The Flower of the Mind, Romania.
What happens when an idea travels?
Last week we spent four extraordinary days in Ținutul Buzăului, experiencing the first independently developed interpretation of Temple of Thought — an idea initiated by Davide Macullo and now taken, explored and transformed by others, in another place.
The result, The Flower of the Mind, showed us that the idea can travel — not by being repeated, but by becoming something new, shaped by another landscape, culture, community and way of thinking.
Together with the incredibly enthusiastic Tesseract team, we discovered the land, its geology, traditions and people; worked alongside local craftspeople and artist Sebastian Moldovan; made things with our hands, exchanged ideas and spent time together.
What made these days particularly special was the diversity of people who came together around one idea — architecture, art, craft, geology, business and local knowledge.
At the heart of Temple of Thought is something very simple, and perhaps increasingly necessary today: a place to stop. To think, observe, listen and reconnect. It is not a fixed object, but an intention that can travel, with each place and each community giving it a different voice.
A heartfelt thank you to Raluca Șoaita, Minodora Toma and the Tesseract team, Florin Enache, Sebastian Moldovan, Florin Mindirigiu, María Elena Rudolf, the local craftspeople, communities, partners and supporters who made this experience possible.
We hope this is only the beginning of many more interpretations, encounters and collaborations.
