Sometimes the best renovation is the one you barely notice.

Located on Väikese Illimari Street in Nõmme, the Under and Tuglas Literary Centre museum holds an important place in Estonia’s literary history. Built in 1933 for Marie Under and Artur Adson, the house later became the home of Friedebert and Elo Tuglas and is now a treasured house museum.

Our goal throughout the renovation was to preserve as much of the original as possible – the building’s historical character, materials, and homely atmosphere. We upgraded the technical systems and interior finishes, carefully integrating modern solutions without overshadowing the house’s unique story.

Because good renovation doesn’t always mean creating something new – sometimes it means knowing how to preserve what is already valuable.

KOOS Gallery at Teatri Maja Residence 🎨

In the heart of Tallinn, contemporary art meets historic architecture at Teatri Maja Residence.

Housed in a landmark building dating back to 1953, formerly home to the Estonian Academy of Sciences, KOOS Gallery showcases works by both established and emerging Estonian artists.

With its high ceilings, restored original chandeliers, and carefully preserved architectural details, the spacious gallery provides a unique setting for contemporary art.

The thoughtful renovation preserves the building’s architectural heritage while seamlessly integrating modern functionality.

Something truly special has come to life on the shores of Hiiumaa.

In the quiet village of Õngu, surrounded by forest, sea and the untouched beauty of the island, Eha Retreat is now ready to welcome its guests.

A place for transformative wellness rooted in nature — where contemporary architecture sits gently within the landscape, local traditions meet modern wellbeing, and exceptional food, thoughtful design and deeply restorative wellness experiences become part of one harmonious whole.

At Eha, nature is not simply the backdrop. It sets the rhythm.

Every detail has been created with intention — from spaces shaped by Estonian tradition and the landscape of Hiiumaa to seasonal nourishment, Nordic and Estonian wellness rituals, and experiences designed to restore balance, replenish energy and reconnect us with ourselves.

A place to slow down.
To reconnect.
To return renewed.

This is Eha.

A touch of Estonia in Copenhagen. 🇪🇪🇩🇰

For the Estonian Embassy in Copenhagen, we explored how a space can express a sense of place without being too literal.

The interior draws from familiar elements of the Estonian landscape – the warmth of wood, the blue of the sea and sky, the softness of snow and the deep tones of the traditional smoke sauna. Natural oak creates continuity throughout the public spaces, while subtle shifts in colour evoke the sea and the northern lights. Set against the historic character of the Copenhagen building, these elements form a quiet dialogue between old and new, Estonia and Denmark.

A contemporary embassy rooted in nature, culture and identity.

The exhibition brings together Estonian design brands and their creators with the embassy’s new interior architecture, designed by Studio ARGUS. We’ll be sharing updates throughout the week from the 3daysofdesign festival and the events taking place at the embassy, so stay tuned!

The renewed main building of Tallinn University of Applied Sciences ✨

The symmetrical architecture of the building, completed in 1953 (during the Stalinist period), is stern and academic. It stands as a symbol of its era, carrying deep ideological messages and expressing admiration for the empire. Stalinist architecture deliberately sought to oppose the rise of modernism in the West. Nevertheless, the architecture of that period, inspired by neoclassicism, is also beautiful in its abundant high columns, cornices and spacious interiors.

The new interior architectural solution seeks to break up the building’s strict geometry. Long, narrow and dark corridors have been opened up with glass partitions, allowing light to pass through classrooms into the corridors. Colourful seating niches, restrooms and details introduce contrast and a sense of youthfulness to the otherwise formal university environment. White interiors create a sense of openness, complemented by black accents.

The rooms of the Bank of Estonia Museum are gradually revealing their historical layers. Students from the Painting Restoration Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts are restoring the ceilings of the historic bank building’s hall.

In the room known as the “Peasants’ Hall,” as the name suggests, people of lower social status—so-called peasants—were served there. During the restoration of the ceilings and walls, beautiful paintings featuring dandelion motifs were uncovered.

The students were supervised by Hilkka Hiiop and Heli Tuksam.
