Light is a material. It has weight, direction and a temperature, and it can be built into a wall like any other.
In this apartment in Barcelona there is not a single lamp you can look at. Every source is hidden behind the mirror, under the shelf, above the fluted panel, along the edge of the bath. What you see is never the light itself. It is only ever what the light lands on.
The fluting is there for that reason. Run a grazing light down a flat wall and nothing happens. Run it down a ribbed one and every groove casts its own small shadow, and the wall stops being a surface and becomes a texture that shifts as you walk past it.
The brass answers it. It is the one warm, reflective thing in each room, and its job is to collect what the walls give back.
None of it reads as a decision. That is usually the sign that it was one.
